Mods, please delete if this is not considered appropriate. Here's the thing. I really like this forum but wading through 15 new daily "Lollipop destroyed my phone" threads is ridiculous. I wish more folks would use the search but maybe a clear subject dedicated to this will help consolidate the 82 threads on the same subject and help folks get their problems resolved quicker. Please enhance the list of issues but also suggestions and lets hope we post and resolve more issues here.
There is a tremendous number of folks reporting common issues after the lollipop update:
1. Phone having unusually bad battery life
2. Phone getting very hot
3. Performance lags. Apps taking a long time to load and refresh.
4. Connectivity issues with WiFi.
5. Please continue to refine the list
Your phone is not bricked.
Your phone is not a piece of junk.
My proposed solutions:
1. First try to wipe the cache partition. Power off the phone. Hold down the power, volume up and home buttons at the same time till you get the menu. Use the volume keys to navigate to the wipe cache partition (NOT FACTORY RESET). Use the power button to select. Then reboot system.
2. If that doesn't work. Backup your data and Do a factory reset. Yes, you should not have to do this. Yes, it erases all your data on the phone. But Yes, if clearing the cache did not work, this will probably get you and your phone right. I understand it's a pain but pretty much everyone who has tried it has reported it fixes their lollipop update issue.
3. Continue to curse Verizon, Samsung, Google, the gods, and continue to hold your breath until you turn blue. I suggest the other two options first, but I suspect some folks also found this option helpful.
