The Evo vs The Evo Shift!

so i just fondled the evo shift. it felt really solid. i couldn't take it out of the bag to play with it or slide it open, but it felt well made. i'm definitely going to be heading in to radio shack tomorrow to get another look at it. i'm 90% sure i'm going to return my evo and get this.

Wouldn't trade my evo for it, it's a step down from what I have (big screen, size, ffc), out would be silly of me to switch.

The size of the evo is perfect, it's been dropped on concrete and still works perfectly.

I remember they used to say the evo doesn't fit in the pocket, but that was later proven to be a lie

If I had an Evo I wouldn't switch either. It is an awesome phone.

But, having the choice of which phone to pick when you have neither of them is a harder one when you are holding both in the hand. I played with a Shift last night and to me it is way more comfortable in my hand as a phone both in the size of it and the material of the case. I was comparing it to a white evo which had a smooth plastic back. The Shift has the soft touch back. The Evo is very large and I could definitely see where it would be nice but for me it is too big to use as a phone. For the media part of it the Evo seems great but for texting and making calls the Shift is way more comfortable to me. If the Evo had all the same features it has but with a 3.7 or 4 inch screen I would really be torn between it and the Shift.

Iv'e decided i'm getting the Shift to use as my daily phone and going to use my Evo to test developer roms and such.

I have always wanted to have a second android phone laying around anyway, the Shift works for me as it has a keyboard, i have been doing a lot more typing/texting etc. and the touch keyboard isn't cutting it anymore. With the shift i'm not giving up performance and gaining a keyboard, screen size isn't really an issue and i think i used the FFc once on my Evo, not a deal breaker if i don't have it everyday.

i think the Shift is going to be a great device, i just hope the dev community picks up on it :-) i think it really comes down to preference, if you want a keyboard, or larger screen and FFC. they are both powerful devices and while i already have an Evo i am willing to go to the Shift for the keyboard. (epic has always been out of the picture for me)
