The fascinate and android has been good to me......

Wow, I've been busy so this is the first opportunity I had to check back on the post in a bit. I really didn't intend for an argument to begin over phones and my choice. I've spent quite a bit of time in the last year or so on this and other android forums, and thought I'd simply share what I thought to be good news for me. AND IT IS good news. I grew weary of trying to make my samsung fascinate, and before that my droid incredible, perform as it should have (speed wise, battery wise, reliability wise, etc) If not for the ability to root my phone and "fix" the battery life thanks to to a very talented group(s) of developers out there in cyberspace, I would've left android by the way side a long time ago. I really grew tired of the idiosyncrasies and quirks of the droid and the long hours of OCD'ing to try and make it work. My wife has an Iphone 4 and I played around with it and grew to like the "simpleness" of it all, with no mods to improve data speed, etc. How many of us have bought Poweramp simply because the stock music player sucked? To all my weapons minded friends out there I compare the android to the Model 1911 .45 ACP. Tried, true, and very accurate.......but it has to be maintained very well! That's why I like the Glock series of pistols.........functionally reliable without having to pet it every day.........
So I guess I went Glock with my phone......for now. But the allure of the android will call me back I'm sure. Steve Jobs may come off as an asshat, but he's a very intelligent and successful asshat. No one can deny this. But I didn't go to the darkside for that "simple" reason of drinking his kool-aid. I went there because I really grew very tired of the android OS and wanted something different for MY needs. It's really that simple. I'll still be here and there on the forums, everyone at work will probably still ask me to hook up them up on their phones (rooting, hacking, teaching. etc) and I will still be an android involved IOS user.
Now, who wants a samsung fascinate with a 32 gb clas 4 card? ;) I've gt an IOS to figure out:p

I agree, and I hope your experience with your choice works out for the best.

You are not the only one who has jumped ship. I went from a Fascinate that stopped receiving calls, to a Dinc2 that wouldn't hold signal, to a DX2 that re-booted itself whenever it wanted (even in the middle of meetings, saying "Drroooooiiid").

I am by no means an Apple fanboi, I detest Apple, but the phone works. I don't like IOS, I really miss Android, but the platform just proved itself too unstable to be reliable for my needs.

I think I'm going back to *gasp* BlackBerry.

I couldn't agree more, I am waiting on my 4th Fascinate replacement to come in. I am definitely not an apple fan but I need something that works.

It should be interesting to see how many jump ship from Android to Apple if the new iPhone has a major overhaul (bigger screen, faster/dual processor, etc.) that put it back in contention with current Android devices hitting the market. Spec wise, the current/upcoming Android phones beat the iPhone hands down. But if Apple does it right with the new iPhone, things could get very interesting. I love my Fascinate when it works, but I'm learning that I prefer to have a device that just works like it should, and I care less about the bells and whistles like widgets and different launchers, etc. It's fun and neat, but after 9 months playing with all of it, it means less to me than I thought it would.

So I think Apple dropped the ball on the new 4S. I would not be surprised to see a lot of the folks on the fence between Apple/Android come to Android now.

The iPhone is a cool phone too and I am encouraging my wife to get it. But if I were you i would at least wait until the iPhone 5 comes out in October. No sense in getting the 4 now.

Another genius that assumed they were comin out with an iphone 5. HAA and to all those apple fanfreaks that sold there i4's to expecting a 5 like u. HAAA HAAAA
Not that I have anything against apple, there stuff is way better than most. The android os is fragmented crap. I've gone through 2 fassies and they still arent that good, verizon 3g sucks at my house and I have 10 towers within a few miles. I may upgrade to the iphone 4s if i like what i see and can get a good deal.
I used to love the fassie and android but im just sick of all the little issues that keep popping up.

"Those people" that I talked about earlier in this thread will still think they have to have the new iPhone 4s, even though they already have an iPhone 4. I'm sure they'll sell plenty.

I agree, they will sell millions, I'm sure. Especially since Sprint is now going to sell them as well. But I think the spec bump will not wow all of "those people" who were hoping for/anticipating a more major redesign, so to speak. It's those folks, and those with upgrades trying to decide between Android (SGSII/Nexus Prime) or the "new" iPhone who may lean towards Android this time.
