I'm still happy with the Nexus 6. I'm currently running CM12 nighties on it right now. My only disappointment is the battery life, but I can still get through the day.

Good excuse to get some opinions on the Google Nexus 6 by Motorola.
It's been out for a bit so let's get some feedback.

Don't want this to turn into a complaint only thread.
Even with a couple of concerns, the device has many upsides and if you reply, you hopefully still have it.

As for me, I still love it and have since Day 1.
It is my one and only/daily driver device.
I have had ZERO problems. Several questions, but no problems.
I just unlocked the bootloader and rooted it. I am running CM12 nightlies on it and even did the LED hack to get that working (which is cool).
Loving the basic, no nonsense, no bloat set up.

So sound off on your thoughts of the Nexus 6.

Forgive me if this sounds like an attack, but you aren't running a Nexus 6. You basically have a OnePlus One.
There is nothing "stock" about yours, it's rooted and running a completely different software package than it came with.
That doesn't help people like me that clicked on this looking for opinions on the stock phone.

Let me give you an example here to make my point.

Here is the title to my post; 27" iMac after 3 months!! Opinions etc etc...

I LOVE my iMac. Best computer I have ever owned. No issues, No blue screens. Love it.
The day I got it home I wiped OSX and installed Windows 8.1 on it. I even hacked the facetime camera to work with Skype.

Tell me how your iMac is running!!

Again, I don't mean this as an attack on your post. But if you wiped the phone and installed a custom rom, its no longer a nexus.
It's just a 6" phone running alternate software.

Good point! But keep in mind that a device review is not only for the software, but for the hardware as well.

One of the best things about the Nexus devices is the fact that it gets the pure vanilla OS as released by Google. But another one of the best things about the Nexus devices is that Google has made it very easy for a user to modify that OS! User can pull down the source code, make whatever changes they want, and compile their own ROM and use it. Or change the kernel etc.
It is still a Nexus - just customized to the user's specific needs. This is something Samsung and HTC don't want you doing without attempting to void your warranty for that.

Ringke FUSION. The edging adds just the right touch of grippiness. Just fyi, I hate cases. Hate how they destroy the beauty of a phone. I find it odd that folks get all fluffy over metal or plastic phone and then add a case that makes the phone look like a tank. If I wanted a tank, I'd buy a phone from 10 years ago. That said, I truly don't notice the FUSION. Perhaps it's because it's clear?

So long as readers keep in mind that any praise or criticism for hardware may only be relevant to users running that same configuration, it's all good. The key is that posters need to (as the OP did) be specific regarding any alterations from stock.

Yeah I am not a big fan of cases but I do have one on my Nexus 6.... These companies spend so much time and effort to build something that looks and feels awesome in the hand and then we get overly protective and wrap it in a case..... Be like wrapping your new car in bubble wrap after getting it home from the dealership...... but after $757 I want to at least protect it from the minor falls and bumps.... I use to go without on every phone until the Nexus 5 for some reason.. I still don't use a screen protector though... that is my rebel side I guess...

Im enjoying my Nexus but there are some things that my Note 3 did automatically that the Nexus doesn't. Im sure the 4 has improved on that as well. The Notes have their own annoyances too I'll grant.

I think my Note 3s camera was better

But all in all I do like the Nexus 6. Im getting better battery life for sure and I like the bigger screen.

I don't know why they didn't make the phone flat in the back. I have to text 2 handed if it on a desk or it will just spin lol

I can see where it would be a bit of annoyance from that perspective, but a small tradeoff for the benefit it gives, which is being much more comfortable to hold. At that size, with squared edges, it would feel even bulkier.

Love mine, had it for a month now ...don't even use my N7 now...whenever I didn't have a Nexus device I always hated waiting for software updates , reading that it might come in the whatever quarter ....something like 1% of devices run lollipop?, if I had another flagship phone I would be pissed waiting for an update.... That is the # 1 thing I love about Nexus.

I didn't catch your post before. I understand what you meant to the OP, but I think your analogy is not the best one. Windows 8 and OS X are a lot different compared to the differences between Stock Android and CyanogenMod, the latter two being very very much closer.

I also don't want to sound like I'm attacking. The former computer tech/geek and android guy in me just couldn't help saying something.

If it will help someone, I just wanted to say I ran Cyanogenmod 12 for about a Month. I just switched back to stock Android 5.01 and it's a lot nicer for me. CM12 is cool and you can do a lot of stuff, but it just doesn't run quite as smooth as stock lollipop IMO. There are a few little hiccups here and there that probably don't bother most, but I got tired of. It's still a nightly so I expect that.

It's funny that you mentioned the Oneplus One, because that's exactly the experience I wanted to recreate on the N6. It's not there yet.

Still love my Nexus 6, especially back stock now. I had an Note 4 but didn't keep it.

I think if I got one, I'd have to pay someone to root it for me, since I'm chicken, lol. I would want to unencrypt, enable the LED and install whatever was needed to maximize the battery. I just wouldn't want to void the warranty.

Obviously, if I rooted, which I can now do myself, I know the warranty would be voided. My point was that those were (are) the things I would do. My worry about voiding the warranty, though, is in the case of a drop, what with the lack of third-party repair support for the device. Aside from battery life concerns, that is the one thing keeping me from getting it. Yes, I know about Moto Care, etc, but ideally I wouldn't want to send my device away for repair, when I've had it done locally and had my device in-hand the same day.

Third party repairs are not covered by warranty in the first place. Try to get your Toyota's warranty coverage if you have the repair done at Jiffy Lube.

Also, MotoCare will send you a phone BEFORE you send yours in. They put a hold (not a charge) on your cc until they receive your phone. I think I got my replacement 2nd Day Deliver, which isn't any longer than if I'd taken it in for repair locally unless they literally got it back on the day I brought it in.

I wish you would bite the bullet and get the phone. I know you have a lot of concerns, and have been working through them as best you can by participating here. We're all individuals, though, and our experiences won't reflect your own. Get it in hand, and test it for yourself. You have nothing ot lose since you can return it for whatever reason. Moto won't even charge you the re-stock fee most carriers will stick you with.

To put meat on the bone, I got the Turbo from VZW at the same time that I had the Nexus in hand. I was able to compare the 2 side by side. The N battery was clearly "inferior", but it only took a couple days to become convinced it was "adequate". OTOH, it took 5 minutes for me to fall in love with both the size and the shape of the N. I was on the forums throughout, and learned a lot. But having the phone in hand was worth 10 times what I got out of reading.

The best thing I got from the forums, actually, was in helping me to focus more on areas that might concern me. I looked hard for dead pixels and "yellow around the edges"; checked for burn in after the week or so; I knew that if the battery met my needs out of the box, it would probably only get better after a week, and maybe moreso with 5.0.1; etc......

Here's the best example of what I'm talking about. For all the distress over the fingerprint issue, I hardly get any. A little wipe on my t-shirt once in a while, and the back shines. Must be that my hands are drier than most. If fingerprint magnetism been a deal breaker, and all I did was read instead of try, I'd have never gotten the phone.

No issues here. The only concern I have is battery life. Its a little weird that the Note 4, with all that touchwhiz going, has better battery. I'm sure it's just a software issue. Looking forward to 5.1!

Try Twilight. It's designed to warm your screen at night towards the red because the colder native blue of our displays is disruptive to our sleep cycles. For your needs, you might be able to customize it's settings to fix the yellow tint:

First, you can set it for "always on". Routine use is to have it fade in and out based on sunset/sunrise.

Second, you can adjust the tint of the screen to your preferences. At the lower extreme, you can make the display very reddish. At the other, it comes out very yellowed. For the screenshots, I've set the intensity waaaaaay up for clarity. Trust me, when you dial it down towards zero it becomes imperceptible. You might find a combination of warmth and intensity that suits your needs. I don't know if it'll work, because I'm not bothered by the yellow tint other are able to see.

i like the phone. It's really buggy though. Lockups, restarts, camera can't connect errors. Just wasn't a great experience for me (though I kept it for 3 months). Went to a Note 4. Just need something more reliable on a consistent basis.

I'm seriously considering picking up a Nexus 6 today to add to my phone arsenal. It's great to read the positive feedback. ...means I'll have to order a tempered glass SP and case online as I'm sure AT&T doesn't have anything decent via retail.
