The how much later will verizon get it thread

I've very interested to find out what Google is going to announce at I/O. I love the ability to flash any ROM without a second though on my GNex but the hardware is really starting to lag behind.

The S3 was $699 for the 16GB, so yeah, that's a good guess, and there is definitely "a way it would be that much"!

I don't know what Verizon store you purchased from, but the 16GB GS3 from Verizon corporate stores and Verizon online was $599.99 and the 32GB variant was $649.99. So I must agree with previous posters that there's no way a base model is going to be $699.99. The GN2 from Verizon is $699.99, but the GS3 never was.

I believe pricing will also be similar to the s3 at 599 and 649 (16 and 32). As far as plans I am unlimited so I pay full price for phones all the time. I also have a a discount on my data plan making it too cheap to leave them. I almost wish at times they would kick me off ETF free so I can go GSM. Verizon has gone downhill atleast here in NYC (data wise). Inconsistent. I do think do speed tests anymore as its not real world test. I'm saying loading pages sometimes lags and just overall their LTE is over rated (again NYC) outside the city moat other places I go verizon is best.

You're right...

I actually just read an article that it will be $579.99 or that is the target. $600 -$650 is my ballpark max. Makes it hard to justify more than that.

As far as unlimited contracts, my rezound is only a year old next month, so I'm under contract for another full year. They ended unlimted plan subsidies last year around June, so anyone who preordered the S3 was allowed to KEEP their unlimited AND got the phone with a subsidy. So VZW has another year from June before they can start eliminating their unlimited plans....if they even do that. Most of their users aren't really blinking at taking the upgrades because most won't pay $600 for a phone. For me and my plan with 4 phones, just to share 1gb of data on a shared plan will cost $10 more than what I already pay. So no way will I ever come off what I have unless forced to, and when that happens, I say goodbye to big red.

This very thread topic says it all, Verizon is last, last, last when it comes to announcing anything, releasing it or updating it. Having the best network means very little if you are always late to the party, and leave your customers waiting around for months. I am stepping over the aisle.

I am not saying Verizon has not failed in the past but as a now almost 2 year customer of Verizon wireless they have never failed me,i love both my smartphones, maybe your personal experiences with them has not been great but by their customer base i would most are satisfied with them.

I have been on Verizon for over 15 years and while the service has been great pretty much all the time its the delays on device launches, updates (Galaxy Nexus), I mean a Nexus is supposed to get it right away and yet Verizon holds up the software update for months while they test it. They could have allowed Google access to the CDMA portion they needed but they refuse to.

I am moving to AT&T more for the flexibility of devices, getting what I want when I want and without delay and as a user who does root, tweak, and runs custom ROMs I want more options. I will still have data devices on Verizon for the coverage but when it comes to phones I would prefer to get what they OEM Mfg designed it to be and not what Verizon deemed acceptable for us users. Take the iPhone for example, Apple has complete control and look how efficiently its done. No bloatware, HotSpot easy to access, no WiFi turn on feature sitting in a drop down menu, updates rollout immediately to every phone on every carrier regardless. When Verizon is allowed the full control we see the real side. If Verizon would be more forthcoming on devices, launches and updates I would be staying, but they don't so I am not.

This is exactly why I left Verizon for AT&T and didn't look back. Not long into my Verizon contract, I found myself asking the same question as the OP about a lot of different phones. Wasn't a fun game to play, so I left.

I couldn't agree more. Coverage is one part of the equation, and honestly AT&T's coverage is on par with Verizon's plus you have a world phone when you need a world phone instead of waiting for Verizon to push a software update to allow your phone to work on GSM, or beg for unlocking overseas use. I don't travel internationally but having the ability to pop a SIM in if I needed to without wondering is nice.

id say you guys should have it on verizon by june.
