The HTC U11 is the new champion of cameras?

To me a camera phone is really just for taking a quick picture. If I wanted to go somewhere to take Photos, I would take a proper camera. It is nice though to have a decent camera on a phone, just in case. To me though, all the camera's on all the latest smartphones look good.

i never thought my Moto Z Force took great pics.

Also, doesn't the BlackBerry KEYone use the same camera as the Pixel? seems like it would make the list

If I could have clicked a shocked reaction to that post, I would've used it! How exciting for HTC! They really made a winner this year. Wahoo!!!

Sadly, I don't think the phone would be a big hit.

Not because it's bad but because it's really only available on 2 carriers (that will likely shun it aside in favor of the Galaxy S8 in their promo materials) and how unlocked phones traditionally don't sell too well in the US.

The best HTC can hope for right now is that the device helps create a niche that they can build on in the future. Trying to get the mainstream market in their current state is futile.

It's quite a shame because despite my thoughts that USonic is not that good to warrant the removal of a headphone jack and how I feel that Edge Sense is not all that useful in its current state until HTC releases the APIs and expands on it, the U11 is a really solid device that's sold at a reasonable price considering its hardware.

On Sprint.com it is heavily promoted for pre-order with $150 discount and an additional loyalty discount, so the total price is $306 (plus 2 Echo Dots). S8 for me is $510. (Includes Clear View Standing Cover and 64GB EVO+ memory card for the Samsung Earphones Tuned by AKG included with the GS8. A $170 retail value for free, while supplies last. Plus, get 6 months of Netflix on Samsung!) There is an 18 month lease option for the S8 with a free S7 lease, but you have to buy both phones or turn them in after 18 months.

HTC may not sell a lot of the U 11s, but it won't be because Sprint isn't trying this time. Price is more than competitive with the S8 and iphone 7 at this time. Those of us with iPhones don't miss the headphone jack at all if battery life is OK and the adapter is included for 3.5 mm headphones. I have ordered a Bluewave Get from Kickstarter, so any 3.5 headphones can be paired with bluetooth. Just not a big deal except on the Android forums.

Yep; it's true. Passed the Google Pixel for the top spot. So now the top 5 mainstream flagship phones*, excluding their own prior generations are:

1. HTC U11
2. Google Pixel
3. Samsung Galaxy S8
4. Moto Z Force
5. iPhone 7 Plus

Wow HTC, congrats. Didn't expect that this year; glad to see it!

*The LG G6 is unmeasured as of yet, so it's positioning is as of yet undetermined. The general consensus is that it is probably pretty close to the Moto Z Force.

You forgot the HTC 10!
Isn't it interesting that the top 3 are made by HTC?

I'd definitely take DxO scores with a pinch of salt. Those tests leave out a lot of important factors. HTC clearly have a good camera this year but I'll reserve judgement til I see several camera comparisons and reviews.
