The ICS hold up is getting on my nerves.

That's certainly a fair way of looking at it. I could totally have a RAZR, but I definitely chose this so as not to be back on a Moto phone.

I'm on phone #2. I had a problem with phone #1 which I had rooted and ROM'd and mistakenly ended up on the ICS firmware. My frustration came from the fact that I could not dial back to the GB firmware after flashing the ICS firmware. Any mistake I had made on my DX could be corrected with a simple SBF - and then I could start from scratch again. The lack of a "do over" with the firmware is making me very squeamish about diving back in and making another irreversible mistake.

Make sense?

Absolutely. Which is why I adopted the "only move forward" mantra for the Rezound. Never think about going back and make sure that you're researched enough to know what you're stepping into. I waited a month before flashing the latest ICS leak. Just so that I knew that since I couldn't go back I was safe. Now I'm on this ROM family, and don't have any complaints. S-Off will be available soon enough that the ability to jump back and forth to GB(which just isn't my cup of tea) will be available.

Because when I purchased this on the release date, my Vzw rep and every forum under the sun touted a Q1 update.

And as I've said every time this comes up (and it comes up EVERY time there is a major OS update out there)

1) your VZW rep is selling a phone, not speaking with the voice of authority of the company. Yeah, that stinks, but it's also the truth, and the worst case scenario is that the rep would lose his job for giving out information he's not authorized to give out - the company isn't liable for this and

2) every forum under the sun is guessing - always has been, always will be. Sometimes the guesses are more educated, sometimes they're a WAG.

Truth is, anybody SHOULD only purchase something based on what they see now or what is guaranteed in writing. IN WRITING.

Would you buy a car with great specs because, even though it already has great specs, the salesman promised there would be a recall soon that would make it even better?

I'm in the camp that feels Verizon is waiting until they release the next phones from Motorola and HTC before they give the ICS update the green light.

I love the panoramic camera feature, but there is a free app called camera ics that has the EXACT camera app on ics available for any phone. Incredible. I'm happy with my cleanrom. No need at all here for official ics.

The people who are complaining have absolutely no ground to stand on. This isnt a nexus device, you should not have purhased a gb phone if you needed to have ics that bad. You should have nought a galaxy nexus.

I don't feel for the complainers one bit

Rezound, rooted, loving it.

Exactly.

That's true, but if they don't update their software on the devices we currently have bought (based on their promises to update their software in a timely fashion on their latest devices) then their CURRENT customers will be less likely to buy from them in the future. I left Moto because of their broken promises. If HTC and Verizon continue to drag their feet on this upgrade, then I will have no qualms about going to another manufacturer for my next device.

This S-Off crap also has gotten under my skin which makes HTC not much better than Moto with their devices, but I suppose that's a whole other story.

IIRC, the whole locked bootloader issue is a Verizon issue - as in Verizon not wanting HTC nor Motorola to unlock bootloaders on devices that run on their network.

And here's the thing. Android fanboys are the ones that would actually jump manufacturers because of them not delivering on updates and locking bootloaders. The tinkerers, the hackers. I've gotten a lot of flack on the Verge forums for saying this - but REGULAR customers don't care about those types of issues.

"In a timely fashion" is subjective. Motorola and Verizon have both said that my DROID Bionic will be upgraded to ICS. I believe that they will deliver. The only way I'd be upset is if they went back on their word. They haven't so far so I'll just sit here and be patient.

I thought all HTC phones had unlocked boot loaders?

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk

Don't think any of them ship unlocked out of the box. I believe all the recent releases for HTC have unlockable bootloaders. Just depends on whether the carrier stipulates if it wil remain locked if used on their network. Thankfully, someone discovered the unlock method on the Sensation worked for the Rezound. I don't think Verizon planned on the Rezound being unlockable. Should be interesting to see whatt happens w/ the unlock situation w/ the Inc. HD.

The Rezound is an unlockable device on htcdev.com. It originally was NOT on the list, but it has been added as a supported device.
