The "I've requested a replacement Nexus 4" thread...

There is a plus side going through T-Mobile for any phone replacement though, that plus is they send me the replacement first, then I send them the defective one when I receive the replacement.
They also take care of the postage, so that's nice.

same for google, i believe.

Yeah no the PDF i got via email simply states: PLEASE PRINT THIS DOCUMENT AND PUT INSIDE THE PACKAGE. It might be a slightly different returns policy in teh UK than in the US maybe? Either way i'm still waiting to hear back from them and i'm in process of sending back my second (replacement) phone because of the crackling ear piece. So third time lucky!

your talking about the RMA. Google should have sent you a separate email from "Google Returns" with a link to "retrieve your label". you should have got this email while you were speaking to them.

So I have a question. Called to initiate the RMA on Saturday. Guy said cool I will send your request to the return dept. and they will contact you within 48 hours. Nothing happened so I called again spoke to a women and she said the same think. O I see we will contact you within 24-48 h, when I asked if she saw any notes on my account about me calling on Saturday she said no nothing. Sweeeet
So question. How was your call handled. Did you got someone right away to get you RMA and label plus some info on the replacement. Am I calling the wrong number? What gives?

And since nexus' are out of stock, I'm guessing we'll be waiting a while for replacements?

Just to clarify some of the posts above - US and UK replacement procedures are totally different.

I have tried to send back my N10 and N4 for quite a few days, going through various call centres, specialists, e-mails. As of now, I have still not received ANY shipping label.

Is there anyone here from UK who managed to send the device back?

Yep just got an email from support after asking for a update and now I am being told that it's on backorder and I won't get a replacement for three weeks. I emailed back that I just want to cancel the entire process return the phone and call it a day. I am sick of this crap. especially after I read that people that ordered replacements after me had receive them. Never again.

if they send a replacement in 3 weeks, does your 15 day return window start over, or will it be over?

I am sure based on my experience buying this phone and the crap it took to get it, on top of the return fiasco, they will find someway to screw me. I just dont want this phone anymore. I will never buy from Google ever again. Sad thing is I loved this phone, but it is just to much trouble to deal with anymore. I think I am just going to buy a One X + and call it a day.

Just ordered a replacement because of Earpiece Crackling, Scrambling Video, Network Connectivity issues(at&t).

After the video scrambled I was convinced it needed to go back. See attached.

I just spoke with a German Google Rep. Here in Germany its 21 days to return your defective device. I have the same problem and they can't say, when I'll recieve my replacement. The return window will start as soon as the device ships.

I ordered my replacement via the RMA link on Dec. 2nd and was told it would ship within 2 to 3 days. Today I was updated. It will ship within 3 to 5 weeks!!!

The Google rep told me that they planned for a 1% return rate for defects, and had set aside the appropriate stock. However, he said they have received far more returns (wouldn't give me an actual number) so the RMA stock has been exhausted and they are waiting 3-5 weeks for a new shipment from LG!

How do you like them apples!! I find them rotten.

That is a bit of a concern.

Hey I just received my nexus 4 today, right out of the box I have a scratch on all 4 corners of the device (maybe from machinery holding it?) And the "n" on the nexus has a really small peice of it missing... Just my luck, this would only happen to me. Should I return it and try my luck at another? Is it worth my time? What are the options anyway, I see you can still use the phone while waiting for a replacement, how do I go about that if I choose? My bumper is coming tomorrow... But now that I have the phone in my hands I was kinda thinking about just going baked. All these marks probably wouldn't be noticed by the average consumer, but I'm ocd, so This endlessly bugs me.

If you're not happy return it, you deserve something with no issues.

Yeah I'm in the U.S. The discussion about the 1% replacement stock happened via e-mail. I actually called them after that and talked to a rep who was unaware of this problem and had no idea why my replacement hasn't shipped yet. He said he's transferring my ticket up to a higher power. So, there's a glimmer of hope, but I am in no way optimistic...

who initiated the email, you or them?

I initiated the email discussion after a week went by and the replacement device hadn't shipped (I was told over the phone during the original RMA process that it would ship in 2-3 business days). So, replied to the original e-mail that accompanied my RMA call. Google employee Chuck responded that there was no stock left, so I responded with a strongly worded, but polite, message about how unacceptable that was. It was then that he let me know about the 1% replacement stock, etc.

I have the ear piece buzzing when on calls, was planning to eventually ask for a replacement but never did. Now I recently dropped the phone and have a fairly small crack on the back (got pretty lucky) and a chip on the front. Am I screwed as far as getting a replacement? Will they think I'm only doing it because of the drop?
