The keyboard on my galaxy S8 keeps quitting before it comes up on screen, how can i fix this?

[Android Central Question]

After installing the new galaxy oreo update on my phone the keyboard has ceased to work/ even come up on the screen. I am completely lost as to what to do because i am abroad and don't know how to get this problem sorted. This problem is 100% due to the update as the phone was working absolutely fine up until after i had installed the oreo update. I have already tried rebooting the phone normally and in safe mode but neither solved the problem. If possible i would like not to do a full factory reset as i do not want to lose all of my personal data.

Wiping the cache partition worked for my dad who was having the same problem.
