Believe it or not, you're actually wrong. It never had anything to do with caring so much about that list.

That thread was no sinister plot to milk that list. It was just a lighthearted way to lighten the mood. No need to come down from the hill and feel so saddened. Things are not always as they seem.

I was on the list all summer without "gaming the system", therefore rendering your theory moot.

I even posted here that it was understandable that the thread was closed. Somebody with a sick, sad evil plot to manhandle the list would never have conceded that; hence my earlier conclusion.

I didn't think 'thanks' in the Political forum counted. It was all in fun. It's no big deal to me. I can see if it counts towards your total count but if not, no harm, no foul.

The posts don't count in the lounge but I guess the thanks do. I looked at the *top thanks* after the thread was closed after being reported by someone apparently, then subsequently deleted. The thanks have no value, can't *cash* them in for anything, except that some form of acknowledgment between the poster and the postee for a witty,helpful,thoughtful post. Personally I don't see the need for a list, just the interaction between the poster and the postee, that's enough for me anyway.

P.S: Please continue to "lighten the atmosphere." every chance you get!
