Did you have the S2?
That's what mine did for the last couple months (at the worst times).
I wouldn't know it was off until i looked at it, and that could be very bad if a close friend or family needed help or anything like that.

It also had intermittently non-responsive buttons, kept losing pictures... all kinds of annoying issues, and i always take good care of my phones, so i guess it was just a lemon.

Nope I have the S3 and I could power it on but it wouldn't actually start up 5 or so times then it would power on and stay for a while then out of nowhere it would power off. I figured out it was the power button getting stuck somehow.
