The M8 still a worthy buy?

I'm considering getting it on Verizon with a 2 year contract. Best Buy has the 32GB for only $1 right now!

I just got the M8 for Verizon on two year contract from Amazon for $1 as well. Having used it for the last several hours I have no regrets. I'm no photographer, but the complaints about the "Ultrapixel" camera are "meh" to me at best. The few sample shots I took looked great to me. And the speakers are amazing. I think given the $200 difference in price between the M8 and M9, the latter seems way overpriced.

I agree with regard to the camera. I am very satisfied with what I get out of it.

ill probably go try out at my local store before trading my s5 for the m8 i chose the s5 in the first place because of good battery life, fast clocking speed, water resistant, camera, and because i upgraded from an s3.didnt think of lg g3 because many complaints of it getting hot.htc because of camera and 2.3 ghz(s5 is 2.5ghz).iphone because is just way too simple

not quite bearing to part with my s5 because if i regreted it,it would be hard for me to get another s5

Was still undecided with the m8. Sent my z3 back cause it seemed too big for me but battery life was excellent. Looking at the s5 though heard issues with the lollipop

nope no issues for me.i have lollipop on my s5 and the only issue is wifo takes long to boot thats it.most of the problems i heard came from those who came from verizon and a factory reset fixes all the problems for verizon users

The camera is really underrated. For casual use and media it's fine. Low light is really good. No complaints from me, very good phone!

still deciding on the m8 hard to part with s5.because i chose it in the first place without noticing about the m8.give me some persuasion whether to buy it and who have changed from s5 to m8

I considered the S5 for a little bit but never bought it. Here's a test for you that may help. Load up something white, like the Google home page, on both phones and hold them side by side. Even after playing with the S5 settings, it never could get anywhere near the color accuracy of the M8. If water resistance is a concern, there's numerous water resistance cases and some that claim to be waterproof for the M8. The 0.2 GHz difference between the two is negligible. The M8 doesn't have much resource overhead, so it's still blazing fast. It handles games without even flinching.

the four things holding me back are camera(but i see that m8 camera features are nice)water resistant fingerprint and heart rate monitor

I'll have to agree with Charles that the camera is under rated. The camera features and software are nice, and at a recent evening dinner, the M8 embarrassed every other phone at the table. The event staff was letting couples up on stage to take pictures, with a volunteer taking shots with the couple's own phone if they wanted. We got back to the table and I cropped our photo and added a splash frame effect. When the other couples saw it, the husbands were all saying "Oh, let me do that to ours". Every guy at the table spent the next five minutes trying to match what took me 15 seconds, and two of them were looking for Adobe or other apps to download.

The M8 is IPx3 water resistant certified. I've held mine under running water to wash it off.

Fingerprint and heart rate sensors you will not get on the M8. I have had personal health monitors, and the novelty wore off after a few weeks. But, if you are really into fitness tracking, it would probably hold your interest longer. The M8 does come with fitness tracking features built in, but no heart rate monitor.

Did the water damage the speakers on your M8? Was there any damage to the headphone jack or micro usb port? I'm having a hard time believing that you held your phone under running water without damaging one if not all of these areas on your device. As an M8 owner myself, I'm curious to know if my M8 could or would withstand a splash of water, however, I won't be holding my M8 under running water in order to find that out.

I found many sites citing the IPx3 rating on the M8. According to the rating system, it basically means it's protected against water spray at 60° from vertical (not sure exactly how that is measured). So don't mistake this for being safe for any kind of submersion or even heavy water splashing.

i tried the m8 at the stall today.it was very fast camera is not that bad actually...features on the camera are nice.
but does the m8 at least have pedometer?

It has a pedometer if you get the fit bit app, but I found it unreliable and never used it. I found that it counted false steps just by moving the phone around in your hands during use or if it bounced (like riding in a car on a rough road). Sure you can stop the app, but that just gets cumbersome if you are wanting to keep accurate step counts.

Trying mine out at the moment and it's quite good. However the texting accuracy compared to me iPhone is low and not sure how to get rid of the whatsapp popup notifications.

Get a different keyboard.

If performance, and a streamlined experience means anything to you, get the m8 over the s5 any day.

The pop-up/heads up notifications are a lollipop and app specific issue. Lollipop made it an option for developers, and it's up to developers to enable it in their apps.
