News The Moto Tag is pretty neat, but it doesn't bring anything new to the table

Isn't it an oversight not to mention that the Moto Tag comes with Ultra Wide Band and none of the other trackers do?
While i realize it's no enabled currently, but at some point it will be and all other android trackers will become outdated.
So wouldn't a bonus be that it's somewhat future proof where the other two aren't?
With that said, i'm growing tired of android's slow rollout or failure with the FMD network. I'll give it another couple months and then i'll just get an old iphone to keep on hand and get apple trackers, which will be a painful choice.

It doesn't add anything new, yet it offers UWB, more range than the majority, and designed so you can use your airtag accessories with it?!

Also, the button should be intentionally hard to press so you don't keep getting false activation when you have it in your bag!!!

Bad journalism.

Agree. After waiting patiently like so many others for Google to give android users an equivalent to IOS Airtags, this role out of FMD has been a bad joke. Leave it to Google to take loyalty and goodwill of users and treat it as unimportant.

I've been using Tiles for a while now. The tiles are pretty good at finding stuff local to you and last location. I think what the ios and now hopefully android trackers should bring is the ability to track in real time using the network of phones. Because there are so many iphones out there from what I understand if you stick an airtag on something you can literally watch it move in real time. My hope is that the moto tag can do the same since it has UWB.

Am I missing something? I cant get the mototag app to send me a notification when i "leave something behind". The airtag does. I have an airtag on my samsung phone so my hubby can get a notification if i lose my phone. I wanted to do the same thing for his phone. He gets a notice in 10 minutes if we separate.

Bluetooth only serves to give you distance to tracker. UWB allows direction and farther distance than bluetooth. No other Android tracker has UWB. It is clearly the future. The author seems proud of having reviewed all trackers yet doesn't seem to understand how they work and their limitations. Bluetooth calculates distance based on RSI (relative strength) of signals but the is severly affected by obstructions and it also operates in congested 2.4Ghz frequencies. UWB uses a wider band outside of interferences and uses TIF (time of flight) to calculate the distance which is more precise.

Saying the MotoTag doesn't bring anything new to the table is open to libel. The author only seems to know about loudness and battery life when comparing trackers.
