Hey everyone. Just want to see everyone's predictions for the next Google Nexus Smartphone. Manufacturer, what OS it will launch with (Hopefully Jellybean), specs and all that goodness. Also, does anyone else want a kickstand or other special features? Thanks guys!

I hope El Goog either goes back to HTC or gives their soon to be acquisition Motorola the ability to make the next Nexus. I think I'd rather see HTC develop the phone since they have one of(if not the only) CDMA(LTE)/GSM phone around.

O/S: Android 4.1 (Jellybean)
CPU: Snapdragon 4 (1.5 ghz)
DSP: Bose with full EQ
GPU: Nvidia OpenGL based standalone GPU
RAM: 1.5GB
Internal Memory: 16GB
External Memory: Up to 64GB Class 10
LCD: 4.3" 720p AMOLED (non-pentile) screen
Battery: 2600mah stock battery
NFC, Wifi G/N, ImageSense Camera, 2MP low light FFC, Decent speaker, and a KICKSTAND

What....I can dream can't I?

Edit: Ninja'd by the truth....dang

My wishlist

  • OS - It WILL be jellybean, yet ICS is so great i dont know what should be done more than optimisation
  • CPU - Pair of A15 cores with a A7 compagnon for background tasks
  • +Battery life, +Battery life, +Battery life, +Battery life
  • GPU - I don't really care
  • RAM - 2go !
  • Storage - don't care but make its much faster for shorter loadings
  • Display - Galaxy Nexus but AMOLED+
  • Connectivity - Digital Radio Mondiale, FM, Bluetooth 4.0 , +all the usual stuff. don't care about LTE, anyway the GSM version has virtualy no chance of getting LTE
  • Availible directly from Google !
And Samsung, ask Research and motion where they get their antennas

I have no problems at all with my GSM Nexus. I think its the best phone on the market right now.

Topic:
For the wow factor, make it resistant to; Spills,Scratchs,Crashes,Sun glare and finger marks !!

I really really hope this means there will be a Nexus slider. I know I'm in a shrinking minority that still very much prefers physical keyboards, but I really am lost without it. (The Droid series are the only android phones I've had and have considered)

hmm, looking at it, and the suggestion of a trackpad, I could see the right side of the phone being a trackpad.

Gnex is my first Nexus and probably my last. I like the phone and any phone can and will have issues. But here is where I am at, there have been no updates other than the one I got in the parking lot. I know I can do the upgrades that are around and I am unlocked and rooted but I guess I thought the official is just around the corner. Well it's been five months and I can't buy a night stand dock or a car dock. These are the two things I use every day. I have worn out two changing plugs checking my phone at night. If nobody has made an accessory in five months it probably won't happen. I will not be this disappointed again.

If it's made by Samsung, it could potentially turn out pretty wicked...

-Jellybean
-4.8" Super AMOLED+
-Exynos 5250

Throw in big battery, LTE, removable storage, 16gb internal and it's golden.

Those specs would be awesome. I was going to get the GN but decided to pass. I'm looking to get the next Nexus towards the end of the year. Until then, I'm getting the EVO LTE.

In that case Samsung better wow me with it, because up to this point I've been totally underwhelmed with every device Samsung has released on Verizon. The GNex was the must underwhelming smart phone I've seen in several years if you take Hype vs Reality into consideration. And it still doesn't work right, it still has multiple problems with voice calling.

I agree the galaxy nexus was one of the most underwhelming phones from samsung. The slew of issues and unless samsung uses some better radios I see the next nexus having the same issues as the galaxy nexus.

It better be a true world phone

-GSM, CDMA, LTE
-Simultaneous Release on US carriers
-1.5 gigs of ram
-sd card slot
-2350 Mah battery
-4.7inch LCD screen

I know its not going to happen but let me dream :-\

> I also wish that HTC got the chance again. I feel like Samsung sabotaged the nexus just to make the S3 look awesome by comparison.

Please noooooo!!!

I like my unlocked GNex but frankly it could have been so much more had it gone back to HTC. The Nexus One was and still remains the biggest leap in Android devices. I think it will take HTC to bring the future Nexus back to the forefront of technology.

Case in point - look how Sammy dropped the ball with the SIII and how HTC is shinning with the One X.
I respectfully disagree

The only clear thing the One X does better than the S3 is the screen. The aesthetics and materials are all opinionated and the S3 has better storage options. You're making the gap b/w the two phones sound large when they are both very similar and competitive. The only reason people are way more disappointed with Samsung than HTC is because, they expected more out of Samsung than they ever did HTCs announcement.

Also, I don't see how there will ever be another Android device with hardware as far ahead of everyone else as the Nexus One was. It doesn't matter which OEM builds it. Times have just changed too much and the spec race is swifter, all the OEMs are pushing hardware and Android much harder than when the Nexus One was made. It doesn't matter if HTC, Samsung, Motorola, or LG builds it, it will still be in line with the other flagships and high end phones out at the time hardware wise, not ahead of them (Like the Galaxy Nexus, and Nexus S). The OEMs are already putting out what they can as far as raw specs. The way to differentiate now is sheer design and software.

As far as answering the OP question. Assuming the Samsung rumor is true. I'd probably guess the would seem to be a Samsung device with another OMAP chip since Google likes OMAP so much, which given the time Nexus devices are usually released I would assume quad core A15 OMAP 5.

i'm using a blackberry torch as my major device only because of the excellent keyboard! i tried moto backflip two years ago and it was terrible.
yes i'm still hoping google or samsung or moto will one day give me a device with a beautiful keyboard

Hopefully it will be Motorola.. They have some on the best radios and it would make sense. If not Motorola it needs to be HTC.

The real question that should be asked here is: How is google going to screw itself by only releasing it to certain carriers.

They've done a masterful job of doing just that with the GN

actually, they should release it to NO carriers... therein lies the problem... they should offer ONLY unlocked phones through google play or the usual resellers (best buy, amazon, radio shack, etc...)... google needs to CUT the carriers out of the equation completely... GN is messed up because of VZW...

I don't care who makes it as long it's the photo of the phone above.

I really think they need a simultaneous launch on all 4 major US carriers. Not one launch over seas, then Verizon and Sprint 5 months later. It is ridiculous. An honestly I think HTC or Moto should get a shot. Both companies have better build quality on their phones. I can't stand Samsungs's plastic and their hardware is very disappointing too.
