The Next Google Nexus Device

I hope they sell it from the play store and let carriers subsidize it if they want to.
They should also sell it for under $500. That is the only way to get people interested to get it off contract. They should also support carriers that provide cheaper data plans for those off contract.

I kind of hope they don't bother with Samsung. I love the Gnex and samoled but Samsung is kind of annoying these days. I really don't think they get it. Neither does HTC, but to a lesser degree at least. I mean they don't get what google is trying to do, and if they do get it, they don't care. They will eventually devalue the platform, unless google takes more control in my opinon. I am on android for google not for the carriers of OEMs.

I hope it doesn't use Intel's new chips. Those things have "battery issues" written all over them.

Kinda wish Google would let someone other than Samsung make the Nexus. Like perhaps Motorola or HTC.

The Nexus Initiative

Your wish has been granted...unless Google contracts Sammy to make 5 devices

I'm sure most of you have already read said article, but that news was the most exciting mobile announcement plan I've heard this year. I'm sure Google doesn't plan to launch 5 smartphones, but the thought of multiple hardware options with a guaranteed stock experience (and hopefully no major US carriers) this Fall has me giddy. Bitter GS III taste promptly replaced by Jellybean.

Still just a rumor.

OS : Android 5 / 4 (Upgradeable to 5)
CPU : Snaprdragon S4 1.5 Quad
GPU : Andro 320 (Should be awsome)
Screen size : 4.8 inch
Super AMOLED+
then rest dont care.. :)

Im seeing a trend here, everyone wants HTC or Moto (considering your not a samsung fan) which i agree, although i think HTC is superior to Moto (in regards to software, not hardware) so with that said, its an even match when you remove the overlays from 4.0.3. I would like to see what Moto could do with it. everyone deserves a descent shot. But to look at it from a different angle. Motorola (Google company now) might get all the favortism in the future. We shall see. I just beg Google..... Please not samsung. My Vibrant was a massive disappointment and i would like to own an (HTC Nexus Fire) <-- just making up names now. sounds good though

o and please have a good battery life, with now bugs.... take your time (that is all)

I would like to see a Wolfson DAC and USB Hosting. The fact that iPhone has better sound, or simple ability to get it, bothers me.
My EVO is my phone, camera, watch, FLAC player, "kindle", PDA, voice recorder, web server, car stereo tuner, and when on vibrate it is my martini mixer.

Honestly, what's with samsung doing all the nexus' recently?

Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus? And rumored to get the next one...

I wanna see a moto one so we don't have any signal issues, and GSM/CDMA and LTE are all possibilities :)

edit::: 5 OEM's... probably asus and samsung for tabs, samsung, htc, and moto hopefully for handsets...

I'm wagering Nexus' across the spectrum - one 10" tablet, a 7" tablet, a phablet like the Note, a 4.6"-4.8" smartphone, and a 4-4.3" smartphone. All will run Jellybean. At least one, if not all three (t)(ph)ablets will have a keyboard dock option. Samsung, Motorola and HTC will all be in the mix, I think Asus and Acer will not.

LG's 5'' Full HD Display

It would be interesting to see this screen utilized in the mobile space. I still don't think the industry necessarily needs a 1080p display (especially in regard to battery consumption), but I can't see LG not using this tech if they are in running to be one of the OEMs in Google's alleged 5 Nexus program.

I really really hope this means there will be a Nexus slider. I know I'm in a shrinking minority that still very much prefers physical keyboards, but I really am lost without it. (The Droid series are the only android phones I've had and have considered)

Google Patent Application Hints at Nexus Slider

hmm, looking at it, and the suggestion of a trackpad, I could see the right side of the phone being a trackpad.

No offense but that looks like a g1......

I loved my g1... Think they might do a retro thing with much better specs...? My g1 was good for when it came out, but compared to now... Self explanatory

That display, Jelly Bean, Moto radios, and a battery backpack to get thru an average day.

Is the '5 Nexus devices' thing just a rumor or has someone actually confirmed it?

I'm pretty sure the rumor was "Google set to give up to five OEMs early access to the next version of Android". That got spun into five Nexus devices.
