The Official: I have my Gear S thread! Reviews, etc.

Aaand? Did you get it? Do you love it?

Unfortunately it did not come, it's in the same status. When I get up in the morning I'll call my local corporate store to see if they did indeed receive a shipment for Wednesday. If so I'm cancelling my order shipped or not. I'm still considering cancelling altogether and just keeping my Gear 2 until Spring when version 2 of the watch I believe will launch.

I went into a Tmob store today and got one. Im a Sprint customer so i had to open a new line with them. $14 a month for watch and $15 for data isnt too bad. So now i got a Sprint Note 4 with a Tmob watch lol. But it all works perfect.

Too funny Dante314. The first week the Gear S is out and you are thinking of cancelling your order for the Gear S2. With that thinking you will never own one, because Gear S3 will be in site then. Lol... :D

Thanks, daddy302. If I got rid of my regular Simple Choice plan on my Note2, would I still be able to keep the same T-mo SIM for the GearS, but just pay $15 instead? It sounds like it, and would be an interesting option for anyone not on T-mo already.

I think you can if you trim it. I'm pretty sure you have a regular sim in your Note 2 and the S requires a nano sim. Honestly I would not trust the S to be a reliable phone option with no backup. I would keep the phone and just pay the extra $5 until they improve the S to a point you don't need a phone anymore.

Don't give up yet. I know T-Mobile isn't perfect and I had my beef with them for screwing up my bills more then a few times. Just call then and explain how disappointed you are at their level of service. Just explain, you don't like to be guessing where and when your item will ship.

He's not doing it because he doesn't like the S. If he does it, it's because he's fed up with T-Mobile screw ups.

That is still cheaper then sprint by about 2 dollars. But how does it work are you able to use call fowarding

Actually its more than 2 dollars. Sprint wants 30 just for the service and another 16 for the easy pay payment! So im saving almost 20. The call forwarding works perfect. The Gear will ask you what the Gears phone number is then I guess relays it through the phone. Thats how it forwards.

Get better! Maybe the distraction of the device will help you.

I was told I'd get mine by Thursday, but now tracking shows Friday. Darn T-mo!

Dante, you think a gear s 2 will come out in the spring already? Are you basing this assumption on Sammy's current wearables update cycle? (I have not paid attention to any of them until the Gear S.)

I was going to say the same: what better way to get better than a new, shiny gadget on your wrist!

More so do the the frustration and headache of trying to get the item. It's out for delivery now though so the wait is just about over.

I do think it based on their new approach and pattern to wearables. They have already stated something about working on a watch with a larger screen than the S and intuition says we will see it before apple even launches with their first watch. I'm guessing at or around the time as the galaxy s 6.

Apple watch will probably come out April/March. I had not heard about a new larger screen watch, but for some reason i think I'll want it.

Totally OT, but it would be cool if the Gear S was set up to work with Samsung tablets in addition to their phones.

Isn't the one they're working on just the round version of the Gear S?

sent from my Galaxy s5

I've heard that as well along with fingerprint authentication for the watch. I guess time will tell but I'm assuming it may be used for identity verification purposes (purchases ). I believe a bigger screen and battery are for sure happening. Smart devices are slowly becoming more accepted. The Rufus Cuff is a companion device coming next year that kind of reminds me of a Fallout PiP Boy. It's pretty damn big but it's flaw is that at that size I certainly think it should be a stand alone device. I think that's Google is holding out on releasing glass because of acceptance. I'm a Mega Geek but I can't really see myself walking around with it on in current form. As developers push the limits with size and larger wearables become more acceptable this area of the industry will literally explode with new out of this world type of concepts that wouldn't of been considered before. I think it's funny listening to folks say the watch is big. In another year or 2 the Gear S will be considered a small discrete wearable.

It's finally here yippie, I'm doing a full charge before booting it up and I've placed the Sim in already. So other than than the A at the end of the At&T model and T on the T-Mobile variant which I know stands for the carriers obviously everything else on the box as far as bands are exactly the same, exactly. So unless I'm missing something I could of had this watch last week buying from At&T and saving myself some headache. Oh well it's here now. I'll boot it up in an hour or so.

Well, we set ours on the same day.. Yipppeeee!!

Just did a fast setup, charged to 100% , installed sim, downloaded Gear Manager, installed some apps, called my son, and he told me I sounded clear as ice water!!

Since you got yours, it is like Yul Bryner said in the Magnificent Seven... "Now We Are Seven"...

Old man is tickled pink on this side, well worth the wait, and the price...

Happy Old Camper here...

You could do that but the AT&T version lacks some of the bands T-Mobile needs from what I've read. That cell service could come in handy some day if you lose your phone and need to call someone.

question when you leave your note 4 home what mode is the gear s in? im guessing remote mode?
Yes, auto-remote. My Gear S s is set up to automatically turn on the network connection if it's away from the Note, which it does, then it connects to the Note.
