The "One" Accessory that would make the AT&T One X Everything

The HTC One X is an awesome phone. Agreed. Will almost certainly be my next device without question...but there is one accessory would make the One X for AT&T everything I want in a phone.

Seidio makes a case for the iPhone 4/4S that has an interchangeable 1700mah battery built into the case itself.

Make that case for the One X and add an integrated microSD card slot that the phone can access. One accessory to protect the phone, almost double the battery life, AND add microSD card support.

Any thoughts from the AC community on this?

Personally, I am would much rather have a more bulky device with more storage and longer battery life over a thinner sleeker device any day. Whatever I buy goes in a fairly durable case before I carry it even out of the store. Once the case goes on, much of the "sleek" is gone.

I do respect those who really like the super sleek form factor of the One X...it's an awesome looking device.

I agree about the case with extended battery and microSD.. Takes what appears to be a GREAT phone and makes it ideal.. With an advanced case design with integrated battery that is also light, it believe it would work great! After all iPhones are not exactly light either ;)

Can't wait until people have had their One X for awhile and post feedback, issues, etc. here so those of us on the fence can decide whether this is indeed, the IDEAL killer phone!

Completely agree!! I was dead set on getting it next pay day, but now I think I'm going to wait and read some feedback

Can they make a case with an extended battery that uses the dock connector contacts on the back of the one x? That would be awesome and would be a way to keep the bulk of the device down.

I have one of these form Incipio for my Sprint SGSII. It's comes in handy on days when my friends and I go on long bike rides and we aren't near outlets.

After having mine for a week, it is indeed THE killer phone right now, and all reports say the GS3 isn't going to surpass it. No reason not to go ahead and pick it up on release day.

A case that uses the contacts to add battery life would be awesome. I see no reason why that is not feasible.

The problem with the microSD idea is the same as the problem of using a flash drive and that is that the AT&T HTC One X doesn't support USB host mode. At least, I can't get it working with the cable I found. Not sure how else a microSD reader would connect if it wasn't through the microUSB port.

HTC has already gone on record saying that the contacts on the back of the One X support both power AND data, so technically it should be able to work without needing to use the microUSB port. And if you think about it, that's the ONLY way a case like this would even be feasible without having a huge unsightly bulge on the left side of the case to house a plug that connects to the microUSB port, as it's on the left side of the device, unlike the iPhone with its connector on the bottom of the device. The One X is already a wide phone, you don't want to have to make it any wider with a case that has to plug into the microUSB port on the side of the device. And at first I thought that would be the problem with making a case like the one above for the iPhone. But then I realized all of this should be possible by going through the contacts on the back of the One X :)

As was already said- you have to have USB host support if you want to have such a case with storage on-board, regardless of using the rear points or a USB cable.

That said, it still sounds like a neat idea, even if it is just for power. Second suggestion- make one compatible with the Evo LTE too :)

Using the dock connector contacts on the back of the phone was what I had in mind for both power and data. It should be much easier to design and build than working around the side mounted microUSB port on the One X and would add very little bulk to the phone if done right. (It should also be much easier than trying to design around that large iPhone connector, which Seidio has already done and done well.)

OK...So now how do we get this great new idea built, attached to an AT&T One X, and in our hands?

Third Rail has a case much like the Seidio case with the interchangeable battery. Except their design is that the battery is removable and you only click it on the case when you need it. That way you have a sleek case to protect the phone and the battery when you need extra juice! Check it out at thirdrailmobility.com

I would much rather have one of these + the memory card option included in one case.
