The Phone wars are over...Samsung just won

Lol, with the success Google's been getting with the Nexus line (I've already seen more N4s than Note 2s out in the wild), why would they stop the line now?

My issue is with assuming the next Nexus phone will be called "Nexus 5".

Since they removed the TW features I thought they'd adjust the price accordingly.
Had they priced it at around 500$ I'd have no problem, but at 650$ I'd rather wait for the Nexus 5.

Same here. It kind of defeats the purpose of having so many sensors since so many of them are not used in stock Android. I'm just going to hold out for the next Nexus.

This topic is just absurd. So you're telling me that Samsung won cuz there will be an S4 running stock android ? Pff

You get what you pay for? The N4 has zero lag, an ?ber-fast processor, an amazing screen (can't say that about the GS4's AMOLED), and a sexy design (again?).

Umm....let's not be ridiculous here. The GS4's screen is superior to the N4's screen, sorry but it's true. I'm sitting here looking at both of them. Even if you don't like the saturation of AMOLED there are several different screen modes to choose from which offer a more natural look. Bigger screen, 1080p quality as opposed to 720, more vibrant colors, improved pentile which makes for no graininess in sight, and comments like that just look ridiculous.

I think there will be a new Nexus phone this fall. I'm not calling it a Nexus 5 though.

If you're talking about an "X-Phone" it has the same internals and screen as the Nexus 4, it's a mid-range phone. There will be a "Nexus 5". I only say this because I picture a Nexus 5 having the latest internals which in the time it's released will be the Snapdragon 800 and Adreno 330.

Why are they charging so much for a stock android device?

Because it's the same price as an original GS4 unlocked. Just because it's a different OS doesn't mean it's a different phone, if they charged any less for it then Samsung would be in hot water for selling the TouchWiz version at a higher price.

I've never considered the long-rumored "X Phone" to be a Nexus phone.

And because you "picture" it, doesn't make it automatic.

Again. Just like you, I think there will be a new Nexus phone, but I'm not ready to say it'll be called "5".

Isn't touchwiz a selling point though? Traditionally you'd pay more for branded software, so shouldn't vanilla make a phone cost less?

The features are the selling point. In that sense, yes TouchWiz is a selling point.

Most people that buy a Galaxy don't know it's called TouchWiz, though.

Yeah. But the aesthetics or update-friendliness? Not so much.

Aesthetics is subjective.

Update-friendliness is not as relevant to the masses as it is to the average Android Central forum poster.

Nowhere did say because I pictured it it has to be so. I'm just going by last year with the N4, buddy.

And I'm curious as to what you think it will be called and who will be making it, this thread isn't much of a topic for anyone to be upset about it going off topic anyway.

Samsung doesn't want to compete with itself.

And Google isn't subsidizing it like it does with their Nexus 4.

Haven't had a chance to look at it, did they get rid of the crappy galaxy physical button? If so I'll wait for it to arrive on carriers. Will updates still go through Samsung and carriers? If so I'll pass for the nexus 5 because Samsung won't have won squat if that's the case

So am I. Broken record here but I think there will be a new Nexus phone this fall too.

It will be manufactured by an OEM that already makes Android phones and it will have the word Nexus in the name.

I just think assuming it will be called "Nexus 5" is just as bad as assuming the next version of Android would be "5.0" and Key Lime Pie.

Not necessarily, you're still getting the original S4's features (eye scrolling, sensors, etc.) so the BOM should be the same as the TouchWiz GS4.

But as we all know, BOM isn't the only factor in the cost of a phone.
