The phone when using Android Auto ... easy to escape?

OK, so I've tried this on a number of phones but can't tell if dev mode allowed me to do this, or if it's like this all the time.

When you're plugged in and running Android Auto, and all you see on your phone in the "Android Auto" logo ... Pressing back does nothing. Pressing home does nothing.

What about multitasking? I could swear at first that was locked out, too, but now I'm able to tap it, go to any other app and then back to the home screen.

Someone who hasn't messed around with dev mode: What are you seeing? Can you use multitasking to escape from that screen?

Unfortunately, I can't tell you what happens when NOT in Dev mode because I can't get Android Auto to launch UNLESS I put the phone in Developer Mode. The head unit won't even acknowledge a connection until I put the phone in dev mode.

Phil, I've found that swiping down from the notification bar will allow me to see all the notifications and one of them says car mode enabled touch here to exit. When you touch it the home button works allowing access to the phone.

That's really weird. ... N5, you said?
Yes. Nexus 5. Works fine in Dev Mode. When I first installed the unit, I thought it was broken until I asked around on the web and someone suggested that I turn on Dev Mode. I chalked it up to a bug in the software. Might be unique to the 8100NEX if you're not experiencing that.

Agreed. Same thing here with my 4100NEX, even before I enabled Developer Mode.

Hunh. Yeah. I've been hitting the multitasking button to hop around. But that works, too.
