The Pixel 4 XL Battery Test according to this review isn't too bad.

I like to use a new device for around 10 days before judging the battery life

I have good access throughout the day to charging options plus I carry a hefty power bank in my messenger bag, so I'm good.

Nevertheless, for a $1,000 phone, I would prefer something a bit better than, "...isn't to bad."

I'd say in the 24 hours I've had mine it's better than "not bad." I got 5 hours of screen on time and still had 43% left yesterday...

Received XL yesterday and so far I am pleased with battery. I had 69% with a little over 2 hours SOT when I finally put it to rest last night.

In hindsight, I probably could had named the title better for this thread. "Pretty Good" is probably a better description for the battery.

It's not the 4 XL to be worried about in terms of battery life, it's the regular 4 with its measly 2800mAh battery.

Agreed. I have always purchased the XL version, but last year, I got the regular 3 and really love the size. Going back to XL this year because of the battery.

Yeah I love the smaller size but the smaller battery is pushing me towards the 4 XL. Why can't we have all good things

I believe they were both a concern at some point and probably still are to some. Agreed though, it's probably more of a concern for the 4.

I owned the Pixel 3 and the most directly comparable phone seems to be the S10e, which has almost 300mAh more in capacity and a bigger display and similar footprint.

I'd love to see your usage stats. I'm getting way less screen on time, but obviously tons of variables play into battery life... Thanks.

It's the second worst out out of the 4 phones, but only beaten by 8 minutes by the Note 11 Plus. It actually beat the OnePlus 7T Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max is only 43 minutes more. No surprise that the iPhone won, but I was expecting it would beat the Pixel by more than an hour. This definitely changes my mind about the Pixel now.

iPhone 11 Pro Max 9 hours 13 minutes
Note 10 Plus 8 hours 38 minutes
Pixel 4 XL 8 hours 30 minutes
OnePlus 7T Pro 8 hours 12 minutes

Wow! Looks like Google's done a good job with optimization.

I'll charge my phone up to 100% and leave it off the charger the rest of the day and try to remember to take a screen shot tonight before I go to bed. Probably won't be playing any games today (just a busy day). I'll probably be web/fb/etc. just let me know what you wanna see. Happy to share...

Is anyone forcing 90Hz at all times? Any idea of what sort of impact it's having on battery life? What's the damage?

My usage today on the pixel 4 XL is 15 hours since I took the phone off the charger. Basically took it off the charger at 7am and 15 hours later I have 8% battery left with a little over 5 hours Screen On Time. Now keep in mind I tracked a 55 min biking ride which was a little over 12 Miles long and a 1 hour walk which was a roughly a bit longer than 3 Miles. This means for almost 2 hours my gps was on draining some battery. The rest of my usage was some YouTube, IG, FB, txting, email for both work and personal (I get an average of 100-120 emails per day. Also, j use the new G Suite Chat app for work which is constant going off. Over all I'm happy with the battery life I received today. I'm still on the honeymoon phase with the pixel 4xl so using it more than I would on a normal day. Yes the iPhone has much better battery life but if I can get 1 day without the need of a charge then I'm happy. Also, I have 2 pixel stands one in my home office which I work out of and one in my bed stand. Of course a few wired 18v chargers around the house like the kitchen etc so it won't be an issue. But knowing that when I go out I should be okay for an entire day.

That's called phone abuse
No but considering all that it's pretty good

Really wanted to out it to the test without any charge just to see. Def getting better battery than the pixel 3 xl. I have motion sense turned on and I have 90hz refresh rate on. The only thing I don't use is the always on screen. Other than that everything else is turned on.
