The settings app is missing!

Um, am I missing something or am I missing the app to get to settings? I can't find it anywhere and this is after a factory reset because I was trying to fix my wifi because the wifi wont turn on. the only gear I see is this "dev tools" app. and when I tap on the time/battery in the bottom right corner, it doesn't do anything.

You could try installing another launcher like Nova. One of the options when you hit the menu key is system settings.

The 'gear' to go to Settings should also be on the notification bar when you swipe down. Which settings are you trying to access? If you want WiFi, for instance, you can 'skip' opening the settings by long-pressing the WiFi switch on the notification panel, it takes you straight to the relevant settings (same for all other switches).

All that is true, but the question still remains why is his settings app missing?

Don't know, I never really use that 'app' hehe so I haven't noticed if it's there or not in the tablet (I just checked the Note 3 and it IS there, but my tablet's at home). In any case, I always find the notification bar shortcut to be more handy.

Update: I just got home and the settings app is there in my drawer. Maybe you got it hidden or put it inside a folder?

thanks for your responses, for whatever reason i can't seem to get the notification bar to work, but i found a settings shortcut widget, but no app like I'm use to seeing in the app gallery. on a second note does anyone know if the wifi is replaceable in these? I tried looking but i didn't see any results for samsung galaxy note tab 2 10.1 wifi replacement...

So, you have a Tab 2 or a Note 10.1? Quite different... in any case, there should be WiFi replacement parts available, why do you want to replace it? Another thing, you say you can't get the notification bar to work? How come? You can't pull it down? Also, if yours is a Tab 2 it's probably on older software, which means the settings shortcut (or widget shortcuts for that matter) are probably not present.

Samsung Galaxy Tab™ 2 10.1 (Wi-Fi) 16GB GT-P5113TSYXAR | Samsung Tablets this is what i have... I want to replace it because I think the wifi went bad on it and is why the wifi wont turn on in settings... actually on mine there is no slide down notification bar, just the one on the bottom, but when i tap where the time is and the battery indicator in the bottom right corner its suppose to come up a type of settings menu, but it doesn't respond...

I might have another post show because it said it needed to be approved by a moderator, but your right i got confused its a tap 2 10.1, i'm sorry... I think the wifi went bad in it and thats why i want to replace it because the wifi wont turn on at all and just says error... and my notification bar is on the bottom and doesn't slide, just when i tap the bottom right where the time is, its suppose to bring up a mini settings menu but it doesn't do anything...
