I notice on my phone that I can't change my wallpaper to my own after installing a theme because it quickly changes back to the theme wallpaper on it's own. WTF!!! I never had this problem on my GS7. What is going on? I love having themes from Samsung themes but i want my own wallpapers from time to time. I always use Quikpic to do my wallpapers.
What is the problem?

Your problem is QuickPic. It should never have been on your phone in the first place.

What is wrong with that app? It's one of the top rated image viewers in the store. I've been using it since I got my first smartphone in 2012. It lets me sort the photos by taken date and use folders. Much like Fastone Imageviewer on Windows.

QuickPic was bought out by CheetahMobile a few years ago. Basically, everything you give it is logged and all data it gets is sold by CheetahMobile. They've went out and admitted they monetize by selling their user's data.
It's only top rated because it was good before it got sold.

Have you looked at Snapseed?
Snapseed is an editor. QuickPic is a gallery.

So what is the go to app as good as quick pic?

Try simple gallery. It's open source and available on the Play Store and FDroid.

Simple Gallery (Offline gallery without ads. Organize, edit, recover and protect photos & videos) - https://f-droid.org/app/com.simplemobiletools.gallery.pro

It's also available on the Play Store, but I think the version on there has ads and you need to pay for removing ads. Although it's cool to support the dev.

Brain fart Chan. What's the point of not using the OS gallery? Is it lacking some features that the OP wants?

No idea. Personally the built in Samsung Gallery is better than most other galleries out there. He already decided he didn't want the stock gallery when he decided to install QuickPic anyway.

Because most galleries and stock galleries sort the photos by newest first or by dates or timelines. I want to look at folders. Damn I can't even post photos using FB because it shows the newest first and I have to scroll through thousands of photos to find something that could be easily found in a folder but FB doesn't let you look through folders. I believe it's the same way adding photos to text messages or FB messenger.

all this chatter and not one ounce of help for the actual problem of my OP. after a third attempt i finally got the photo for my wallpaper to stick. I never had Samsung themes change my wallpapers back after i just changed it. I'm not talking about applying a theme either. I'm talking about after i apply a theme and i change the wallpaper after i find it in my folders using Quickpic.

Samsung Gallery shows you folders as albums. Almost all Android galleries do. It's exactly the same as QuickPic used to be with more features. You can sort by name, date, etc. It's been showing pictures/albums/folders since it's first iteration 10 years ago. I know because I had the OG Galaxy S.
You don't have to scroll through thousands of photos on FB as well. Just tap the word "gallery" on the top left, and a dropdown menu listing all the folders you have with photos will open. If you select a folder, it will only show you the photos in those folders.

I don't use QuickPic anymore, not since I had my OG Galaxy S, but it used to use it's own wallpaper application function, and not the stock system one when I last used it years ago. Which is another reason I said don't use QuickPic.

Thanks. I remember i used to be able to select folders or albums. They changed it. I see what you mean i can click gallery at the top. That is amazing. Thank you!!! Now if i can figure out why all the album covers for my music show up as their own folders or albums making a mess out of my photo gallery apps.

And with quickPic i use the wallpaper selector for Android or Samsung launcher usually or Action Launchers.

The FOLDERS ARE THE ALBUMS. There isn't anything separate anymore. Each of the albums you see is a folder in your file structure.

Anyway, if that's what you see. I won't go and test QuickPic. Just don't be surprised if you see your photos on some obscure Chinese webpage or something.
