Just out of curiosity, for Android Q beta, does substratum theming engine not work? The only reason I asked is cuz I would love to team out my Gmail inbox. Thank you very much for any help.

Maybe, but your phone would need to be rooted with Magisk first. You should probably check out XDA forums for Substratum and Magisk to find out who's doing what. I know that the Magisk dev was able to root the Q beta even on the Pixel 3's new logical partitions, but God knows how stable that arrangement is.

Gotcha thanks for the info. I'd rather not root and it's not worth figuring out in Android Q beta how to do it but it would be nice to theme out applications that are not themed out already. Thanks anyway though.
