There's Two VZW Apps on the Nexus

The Nexus community has a right to be up in arms about this.

What does a "Google Nexus" phone represent now? I understand why Google wanted to launch via a carrier this time, but this Verizon Galaxy Nexus is changing what a Nexus phone is supposed to represent, or what we were led to to think it represents. It has a Verizon brand, and Verizon bloatware (it's semantics if you don't want to call it bloatware; it shouldn't be there).

And it begs the question: will updates still come via Google, or will it have to go through Verizon now?

More importantly, is Google changing what the Nexus is representing? This is sad if this is the direction.

Sorry, Google already changed this with the release of the nexus s 4g on sprint, this is just a continuation of that. What the nexus originally was meant to be died when the nexus one ended up as a sales flop, google went in a different direction with the nexus s and that did better for them so they are continuing that with the galaxy nexus. It represents a partnership now more than just google calling all the shots

....He is pointing out that the vzw apps arent going to delay updates.... whats the big freaking deal. Just remove them and relax. The thunderbolt has like 10 apps and one being a golf app that about 100mb... BFD

did you not read my previous post? i was one of the first to say "relax" and that those two measly apps wouldn't have any significant effects on google updates to the g-nex.

practically every verizon phone, except for the g-nex, has a million vzw apps (lets golf is one of the worst). but of course, rooting takes care of that.

We only need to point to the Verizon iPhone to see that it doesn't (and shouldn't?) have to be this way.

Complain to your local Verizon or Google rep. They struck the deal. Nothing you can do about it here.

Also, the iPhone is 1 phone whereas Verizon has how many Android phones? True the iPhone may sell more, but it's one phone and up until recently, the iPhone didn't even update over the air. You may ask what that has to do with anything, but I'm sure they all played factors into why the iPhone doesn't have any of Verizon's apps.
