things you wish "Okay Google now" would do

How'd you pull that off ? I tried training it to say other things but it would only accept "ok google now"

Well, I accidentally discovered that "OK Google" (without the "Now") worked, so I thought I'd try to train it to recognize "OK Moto". I didn't do anything special, just went through the three (?) training cycles. It works every time. Oddly, my wife and a colleague can also get it to react to "OK Moto".

Have you had problems with it activating inadvertently? Not sure if it was you but someone posted that with that passphrase, it tended to accidentally activate more often then with the normal one.

I seem to recall it activating once when I didn't want it to. But that's it. Otherwise, it works great.

Not sure if it's because im on sprint or because of the recent moto patch but I definitely can't do "ok google" without the "now" let alone train it to listen to "ok moto."

I'm on Sprint and was able to train it to respond to just "OK Google". The training took a few tries though.

Hmm played around with it some more and finally got it to work. I had to slow my rate of speech down because I was dealing with less syllables. Definitely like ok moto better than ok google now.

I think that last part is covered by the trusted devices thing as well, to an extent.

I'm speaking of the "prying eyes" type of security. If he were to take off his pin lock just to use GNow, then anyone can access the phone...especially if it gets stolen.

I'm also on Sprint. I trained it to "OK Moto" before the camera update. Maybe I'll avoid retraining it (no need to anyway), just in case they tightened the "ok google now" recognition!

Yea, I kind of wanted to try "OK Moto" but I don't want to lose the "OK Google" which I set before the update.

+1
Why can't we speak a simple password to unlock the phone after saying "OK Google Now"? (By the way, I trained it to respond to "OK Moto". It works great and I don't have to keep promoting Google.) The danger, of course, is that speaking a password aloud lessens the security. However, they could easily add a command to change the spoken password daily or whenever you want. If you forget your password, it falls back to manually entering your pin, pattern, or password.

I'm surprised that they haven't done this yet. Touchless control is great, but very much limited by the need to pick up the phone to unlock it.

Thank you for this discovery! For some weird reason I find it hard to naturally say "google" without it sounding weird (sounds almost like hoogle). Retrained it to where I can say Okay moto, with no problems :)

Hmm. Can you get it to learn other things?

That's awesome! Took a few tries but I was able to get it to recognize Ok Moto also. I'm on AT&T with the update.

1. Turn bluetooth/wifi/mobile data on/off
2. Launch pandora, change stations, skip tracks, thumb up thumb down, etc
