Think I'm done with my Pixel 4XL, replacement has stuck battery %

I bought a new 4XL in the fall and it had to be replaced within a month because the battery failed. I received a replacement and now months later it has the dreaded stuck battery percentage, which apparently is a prevalent issue judging by by google searches on this topic. The phone stays at 50% no matter what I do. I have no idea what my battery life is and factory resets, and everything else do not fix it.

I still have my pixel 3XL with a worn out battery that I am considering using now after I get a new battery put in it. Just swap the SIm and I am ready to go.

That will cost 80$ at ubreakifix.

Truly miss the fingerprint scanner and probably will get google to send me a replacement and then sell it online.

Im disappointed with the Google's hardware quality. The stock android experience is one that I really prefer to use and with the 5 rumored to break away from top tier processors and become a mid-range phone, I am unsure what my future with Google phones is.

My experience has been the total opposite. My batter has been amazing 5-7 hours SOT on average based on my usage no issues at all. Love the device and really happy with the experience.

The pixel 3 xl was great as well with the exception of the ram issues where apps would not stay opened, other than that it was a good experience.

Sorry that you got unlucky with your battery 2x that's so unfortunate. Good luck man.
 
Just checking -- the stuck battery percentage still happens in Safe Mode?
 
Update

I let the battery run down to 0% and now the battery indicator is working.... I still dont trust the phone but am holding off switching back to the 3XL for now. Mainly because I would NOT get all of my text messages and the pictures within those texts on Textra to seamlessly transfer over to the 3XL from the 4XL. If anyone knows how t odo that, I would love to know. I can say that while my 4XL was dead, using the 3XL by simply swapping the SIM card, made me miss the fingerprint scanner. Wearing a mask is not conducive to Face ID and the fingerprint scanner opens the phone before I even bring it up to my face.
 
Get that replacement! Don't take no for answer ...good luck and sorry you having so many issues ..
 
I am so sorry that happened to you. Battery issues are just awful to experience! If you do indeed move away from Google phones in the future, have you thought about what your next phone would be?
 
Thread is a little dated but on topic for me. I'm at the same point of aggravation as OP. Wife and I both have 4XLs purchased last October. I started with the mysterious 50% battery issue late July, accompanied by the random shut off of the phone in my pockets (lots of Reddit threads about this issue). If you grab the phone at the top and the bottom and very gently start to "twist" it (obviously you can't actually do this) then the phone shuts off. For someone who pockets the phone a lot, it was infuriating.
I went through the Google RMA process, which is just miserable. First I took it to YouBreak since I've had a good experience with them in the past in their role as official Google warranty repair shop. Wiped the phone, got it ready to hand in, but then they can't fix it (according to Google) since I purchase through T-Mobile. Next step is to go through the whole RMA process with Google (long call but at least a helpful rep), ship out the phone, and eventually get a replacement, which works at least for now, but it's still a refurb.
Not two weeks later, my wife's phone has exactly the same issue. Same process, RMA, etc, etc, replaced with refurb phone. So maybe they were two phones from a bad lot? I love the Google experience, love the software, love the camera, and this phone works for me despite its well known shortcomings. I've had a Nexus and Pixel 2, and came back for more here, but the quality issues are getting hard to overlook (had extensive warranty repair work on the Pixel 2 and my wife's OG Pixel as well), and the warranty process is a joke.
I hate to say it, but my backup phone when the Pixels break is my old iPhone 6! (had this for a previous job that supported only Apple devices at the time). Yes, the 6, bought in 2015, introduced in 2014, still runs - not fast, mind you, but it's functional, never repaired, original battery. My son has an iPhone 11, and I don't like iOS nearly as much as Android (just think it's a generation or two behind on a lot of the great Android functionality), but I'm at the point where I'd probably get an iPhone just to avoid any of the repair/quality aggravation from all the Pixel issues.
Rant done. Maybe I need to bump down to the 'a' line next time? Lower cost, lower expectations? I've thought about going another route (OnePlus, etc.) but not sure if I'm just going to deal with similar issues. Thanks.

Sorry to hear you are having issues but I wouldn't give up until I get one that works as frustrating as that could be. Also if you do decide to jump ship there are other Android alternatives if you like the O.S.
 
Yep, I know I'll need to step back and simmer down a bit. My refurb seems to be working well (frankly better than my original); I just worry about problems arising after the 90-day refurb warranty runs out. Hopefully that won't happen.
 
Update Google got ibreakufix to fix it but... After a few weeks it quit working again. Same issue.

I've been using 3xl for awhile. I'll get a replacement and trade it in when I get it... Not sure on what phone

OK back again. I thought the RMA process on my 4 XL was a pain, but the experience with my wife's phone has been even worse. One of the bright spots in my RMA process was the turnaround time once the Google facility received the phone - replacement device was shipped out less than 48 hours. With my wife's 4 XL, we're now 7 calendar days out from receipt of the phone by Google, so I contacted Google to get an update. Basically the response is, we don't have any replacement phones and we're not sure when you'll get the replacement. Specific language from the email update:

"Your order is currently on hold until we have the inventory ready to fulfill the entire order. This is because we’re experiencing a high demand for one or more of the devices you ordered. When your order is shipped, you’ll receive a separate email confirmation with additional shipping details."

My frustrations aside, has anyone received this response before? I can't deal with an indefinite time frame for replacement while they have one of our phones. Again, I have enjoyed my Pixel experience enough on the software side to put up with the hardware shortcomings, but I'm running out of patience. I responded that I need a better solution, but I haven't heard anything further in response.....
