Thinking about buying 5x. Are the performance issues true!??

The only time I get lag/stutter is when its plugged in charging. In common with a lot of devices.. that makes the touch screen go weird.. and it looks like lag. but it is actually fake touched/electrical interference on the touch controller. It's worse in the UK, possibly because of our 50hz electronics?

I thought I was alone on this. I'm experiencing the same issue when it comes to lag.

Once it's unplugged from the charger, performance is excellent on this device and I have no complaints about it:)

HDR+ is a little slow, yes. Otherwise I had one day where the phone was slow and laggy. Not sure why. Its been great otherwise. It handily beats my Samsung S5. I suppose if you're coming from another flagship phone you may not be impressed.

Good to know I'm not the only one with this issue. I too experience unacceptable lag. I will be exchanging my unit and if the replacement is the same, I'm returning it.

What's the deal with this?

It sounds like it's aa real problem and it's making me not want the 5x. :x

Nexus 5X seems to have some serious lag issues: have you experienced any?

So what IS the deal with it?

The article you linked is just a collection of hearsay. Nowhere did the authors do their own testing. They refer to "numerous speed tests" but don't provide links to actual test reports. They didn't even provide direct quotes from people experiencing these issues. The problems might or might not be real, but this article isn't good tech journalism.

If you'd like to read some real performance test results of the 5X, Anandtech did a really good eval here:

System Performance - The Google Nexus 5X Review

Read it and decide for yourself - especially the section "Sustained Performance".
