i do have another device, but even if i paid 140$ for it, the screen isn't really cutting it out for me, i mean it look fine, but on 1 angle the screen quickly get ugly ("negative colors" effect). With the 32gb version of the Nexus 7 just being released, i guess this would be more like it, since my Ainol NOVO 7 Elf II (yes it's a Chinese brand, 16gb + 32gb MicroSD in it) is alright, but i want a better one, with more quality, and a lot less hassle and money being wasted thru returning it by mail!! (wasted 45$ to return a Cube U30GT Mini to Hong Kong, the cheapest with a tracking and insurance).

I want to know, Nexus 7 users, are you using a screen protector on it? i'm always so damn stressed when installing one. i always press on the screen with the skin, not the nail, as i know it can scratch the glass/front. i can't find any info on the "Corning Fit Glass" though, not even on the official Corning site.

I use a flip case so I don't bother with a screen protector. Some people are more cautious and there's nothing wrong with that.

Using a gray travel cover, made by Asus for the Nexus 7.

if you are in US all you have to do is walk in to store and replace it. no cost there.
i recommend getting it from retail store like office depot, walmart, gamestop
nexus 7 beats those tablets hands down.

when nexus 7 got released. i liked it but i didnt like the back of the device. many here said it looks and feel premium but i didnt understand.

so i went to a store to look at it. i instantly fell in love. no flaws. good quality and good screen.

You'll see a VAST difference in quality with the Nexus 7. Aside from some units with defects, they're excellent quality, fast, beautiful screen. I have the Poetic slim case to protect the screen and prop the tablet up for viewing videos, etc, and I love it.

The glass is scratch resistant, but not as nice as Gorilla Glass (also a Corning product). It is pretty effective, but not completely scratch-proof. With careful handling it shouldn't be an issue.

I am EXTREMELY happy with my and my wife's Nexus 7s. We each have a 16GB model, and both perform wonderfully. The screen is great, and the overall size is perfect for what we wanted.

I use a MoKo case from Amazon, and couldn't be happier.

While there's nothing wrong with getting a 32GB model, just ask yourself what you will realistically be putting on it, and how much space you need. Don't forget that with apps to access content from DropBox, Box.com, Google Drive, Google Music, etc., as long as you have WiFi connectivity, you can access pretty much anything.

It is worth consideration - if you have regular wifi connectivity, 16gb goes a long way. On the other hand, if you travel much, it can be nice to have the storage for music and offline maps.

I just got my 16 gb the other day. I fell in love with it before I even turned it on. You won't be disappointed

I was happy with my 16 GB nexus 7 out of the box. I had no problems. Buy it locally if you can and if you get OCD about it, you can exchange or return on the spot. There seems to be some bad apples out there but considering the amount sold vs complaints, in the grand scheme, it's minimal. Plus all those negative threads just places bad images in people's heads.

I use a flip case so I don't bother with a screen protector. If you travel around with it a lot and don't have a case cover, you might want to consider one. I always put one on my phone since it gets tossed around, in the pocket or purse, otherwise the screen should hold up to normal use with your fingers.

the thing is i like to watch videos (HD movies, anime, etc...) on that kind of device, so a lot of storage is needed. Also, some games that might require a lot of space (1-2gb+ each) can fill my tablet pretty fast. And there's a lot of difference in space between 16gb and 32gb also.

I just noticed the Nexus 7 isn't rooted by default, sadly...but there seem to be some tricks to root it.

Have you not heard of wild blood, batman ect... there are many that exceed 1 gig in size...;)

You don't need to root to access a USB flash drive...there's an app in the play store that will read (not write) a USB drive. You can also get a wifi external hard drive..

do the Nexus 7 support OTG as well? i have a 5-pins USB OTG cable here (my Elf II use this standard), but it seem like all cell phones and tablets being released here doesn't use this standard anymore, i think the one the Nexus 7 use is called "Mini USB".

This use this case as well and love it.
