Thinking about going with a nexus...

I LOVE this phone. But I don't like the lack of support from HTC, sprint, Google, and aosp Devs. I know we just got an update from HTC and I know Google Wallet works now. But I feel this phone can do so much more with support.

Can anyone give me advice?
If you have nothing nice to contribute with, don't even bother.

Thanks!

Yeah, multitasking is still broken after their first update. There is no room here for forgiveness or patience. There is no excuse for EVER releasing a smart phone that cannot multitask between open applications without the apps having to reset/refresh every time. I am also considering a Nexus phone as a replacement. I thing stock Android (AOSP/AOKP) has come a long way and as of ICS and JB there is no need for manufacturers to keep putting their crap UIs on top of the OS. I will wait for Google to announce their Nexus phone lineup before moving to a new phone because Samsung couldn't pay me money to use on of their phones!

I'm sticking with my Evo lte, the multitasking (or lack thereof) doesn't annoy me all that much and judging from what I've been seeing over at xda, we'll be getting a fully functional CM9 ROM very soon from deck and a CM10 shortly after that. There are only a few bugs left to work out of the CM9 one.

I've been keeping up with cm9 and I don't think we will be getting it anytime soon.

As far as I know the Sprint Galaxy Nexus isnt supported like the Verizon Galaxy Nexus (for AOSP), so it'll get udates slower then the other Nexus'. I too would rather a Nexus but if I was to get one, I'll get a GSM one and switch to AT&T or T-Mo.

You dont think we'll get a fully working CM9 soon? We just got source which was the biggest problem with getting CM9 with the phone. We should get either CM9 or AOKP very soon (I'm hoping the end of the month the latest). If you mean Official CM9/AOKP support, well that might take a while.

What phone did you just come from?

Definitely go try out the Nexus in the store first. While it'll change with Jelly Bean, it just feels kind of slow right now. The specs are a step down from the EVO and the screen just does not compare. Like, at all. The EVO is simply beautiful to use. Personally, I'd wait for the software to catch up, or the next Nexus. Plus there's that whole Samsung radio bit, which I believe is a documented issue, though I've never owned a Samsung smartphone.

The last build deck released was from before we got source and it only had about 4 issues, outgoing MMS, crackly audio when playing from SD card, and kind of messed up panorama and camcorder. Now that we have source I really don't think deck will need more than two weeks to fix those issues.

Deck hasn't responded to a thing anyone has said.

I saw a post a couple of days ago from someone saying Deck was dealing with some personal issues. I'm quite sure he hasn't abandoned the project.

I just got the gsm Nexus a couple of days ago and have not been able to put it down since. Within an hour of activating on AT&T got system update to jelly bean. Wicked fast. You cannot go wrong with this phone IMHO. Now I have a few phones to sell. :D

Yeah I saw that too. I dont feel the hype on certain things, like the og evo, things were going fast. This is supposed to be sprints top phone and they're treating like its already too old.

I'm going to keep this phone for awhile and try and play with a nexus. I hope things change for the better. Like I said, I LOVE this phone.

I just hate the "support."
