Currently have a Nexus 6

Would have loved a Note 7, but didn't want to take out firefighting lessons etc!

Anyone moved from a Nexus 6 or Nexus 6P to the S8 Plus; if so, how are you finding it and are you missing the Vanilla Android experience?

It's pretty good.. but if you expect quick OS updates that would be Google phones only.

Experience is great compared to Pixel and I pretty much owned every Google phone and also every Galaxy phone.

The time when I miss Google phone is when new OS rolls out for example android O rolls out. That is the time I switch to the new Pixel. If you really care about OS updates then stick with Google. On the other hand Galaxy phones come filled with features, you can also turn them to pretty much look like stock Android if you want. At least on the S8+ it's screaming fast and hopefully doesn't lag few months down the line like most phones do. Some people will say their Galaxy S4 runs still like new 😉 but it's all depends on individual if you can see lag, stutters etc. Overall at this point you will be really happy with S8, but I don't know after 6 months if it'll the same.

Honestly Android O isnt going to be as groundbreaking as past updates. It'll be an iterative improvement. So really, is updates aren't as big of a concern for me personally. By the time a serious update comes around I'll just look at a new device.

I know it isn't a big deal but there is something fun using the lastest and greatest on the newest Google phone and then wait again for the next Galaxy and cycle repeats 😉😉😉

My previous device was indeed a Nexus 6. It was rooted and running custom ROMs.
I have moved on to a S8 Plus and really love it.
The thing I liked about rooted devices is the ability to do fonts and themes.
I am rather impressed with the massive options Samsung has to offer for fonts and themes.
I use Nova Launcher and have not noticed any TouchWiz intrusions.
I recommend the S8 line as a great upgrade.

Mav.

I went for an S8+ after holding both it and the S8 together. Great decision as it's an amazing phone and one that belies it's true size.

S8 is an excellent choice. The 6.2 inch screen is absolutely stunning, as well as the design. The shape is comfortable to hold with one hand, yet you still get a large screen. I would say it's much better than the Note 7 because of the screen size alone.
