thinking of buying tab s4 ?

I know you just got your pixel slate did you get the i5 model and the size is it like the Microsoft pro 6 are the HP x2 Convertible 2-in-1 Chromebook thanks for all your help deciding today

The Pixel vs Surface same size... slightly different aspect ratio, but over all very similar. I use chrome for almost everything and it is a little transition to Chrome OS, but it runs chrome so much better than the Surface Pro 5 i5 that I used to have. I looked at the HP and IMO it would be a better lap-able detachable, I have the Brydge keyboard for using on my lap like at typical clam shell and it is heavy, but makes it much more stable. If it had the POGO connection it would be perfect as a clam shell replacement. At home on typical web and twitter so far I still prefer the size and weight of the Tab S4 if I am just chilling. Not sure why I even purchased the Pixel Slate, guess I just wanted to try out Chrome OS. LOL

I got my i5 on swappa for $800 with the Brydge and google Keyboard (lighter and more protective). The HP X2 is a little cheaper, but I know that the Pixel will most likely be supported longer. I do like taking notes on the Pixel, However I did notice a little lag on the keystrokes. Might have been a fluke I was using One Note, might try and find a Playstore note app that will upload to One Note (for work reasons). Otherwise so far so good... about 24 hours in. haha

Thanks for the help still hard to decide I know the tap s4 will start getting slowing and fewer updates again I can't think you enough for all your help..

No problem, I am going to play with the slate this weekend with note taking... I will try and remember to report back :)

I just got a Tab S4. I love it so far. Years ago, I bought a Thinkpad Yoga because I wanted a tablet for reading and a pen for taking note, but the power of a full computer. However, it hadn't been as good as I had hoped with battery life and startup time. So far, I really like this tablet for reading and taking notes.

Slate is OK.... More of a Chromebook less of a tablet. Still if I had to choose between the two I would go with the Tab S4 for my needs. On the Tab S4 I think the note taking is better and the form factor is better (for me). The best thing about Pixelbook is the full up browser apps currently dont work great, but it is early. I expect Chrome OS to get better, but who knows since it looks like Google is trending out of the hardware chromebook/tablet space as an overall philosophy. I am not saying they are dropping support, I don't think they will do that, but I doubt they will have a new tablet or Pixelbook style device going forward.

I picked up my Pixel Slate i5 used in great condition for $800 and think I will keep it and it is worth that with the two keyboards I got for that price, but not worth the $1500 it would have cost for everything new.

I gave in and bought it for $399 what a beautiful screen lot faster than I figured it would be. Yeah I think the pixel slate is just little too expensive I'm just going to wait and hope it comes down.

Both in Pixel and HP x2, the pen lag in taking notes is very noticeable and renders them virtually unusable for "pen computing". On the other hand, there is hardly any lag with the Galaxy Tab S3 or S4. In fact, even the S-Pen implementation in Win10 by Samsung provides superior results. Thus, if there are active plans by anybody to use the tablets for some pen input (design, notes), for the time being the best approach would be to stay exclusively with Android
