I know this has been brought up before, but I think I am getting a used N4 to test drive T-mobile's network both at home and while at college. I am assuming everyone here still thinks is am amazing phone? I have wanted one since release but am just not getting around to getting off my parents phone plan. I am assuming everyone here still thinks it's an awesome phone and worth the money? ($260 for a month old one to be exact)

Definitely worth the money, especially at that price. And you'll save a lot of money on T-Mobile. Go for it.

Agreed, and you can always sell the phone if T-Mo doesn't work out for you. The beauty of unlocked devices.

Well the phone should be here tomorrow and I am excited to start giving it a try! Hopefully thus will be the end of my dealings with Verizon.

Why would he need to sell the phone if T-Mo doesn't work out?

I love mine, and one of the reasons I love it (and in fact one of the major reasons for picking it, regardless of cost) was that it was unlocked and pentaband. I love the idea of being able to natively use T-Mo's and AT&T's networks, and if I head out of the U.S., I never have to ask if I'm going to be able to use it in a given area based on which carriers do or don't have good reception. As long as someone somewhere offers good coverage, I can use my phone there.

I'm still on T-Mo's $30/mo BYOD plan, and for the most part I am extremely happy. There are a few places I go where reception is a bit naff, and I will probably switch to Straight Talk / AT&T when I start going to FGCU, because T-Mo reception in that area sucks. And again, that's the beauty of a omni-carrier phone and avoiding contracts altogether.

I've been using the T-Mobile 100/Unlimited/5GB plan for several months & it's awesome. I also had my N4 on AT&T briefly before that & it was outstanding there as well. I'd be surprised if you're disappointed.

I have been with T-Mobile for about 15 years, even before it was T Mobile. I stay with them because the price is right for me. I get 500 minutes talk, unlimited nights and weekends, for $37 a month and $10 a month for 2 GB of data. I know of no plan that comes even close to that, especially for the data.

Ugg, be care with ST AT&T. I did the opposite recently. Was on ST AT&T from Feb-June and then in early June all hell broke loose. Was never throttled at all with data until then. Data signal was good, but still adequate. Then it happened. < 1GB data and shut off. Apparently around that time the APN settings changed/ST too to TracFone? So when I switched APN settings, I got some data, but wasn't that great. Everywhere I went, I basically had sh!tty signal and had to connect to Wifi 100% of the time. My wife's iPhone was on regular AT&T all this time and no issues. So, it was definitely ST's doing, not AT&T/their signal.
Then about 3 weeks ago switched to TMo's $30 100min/5GB data plan and couldn't be happier. I use Wifi like 2% of the time anywhere and always have awesome data speeds.

I do like the unlimited talk mins with ST, but the crappy data signal/throttling wasn't worth it for me. Just be careful! :)

I would say that's a good investment. I got my nexus 4 a couple of months ago and I'm loving it more than I thought coming from a galaxy nexus.
Only advice would be to do what your doing and check coverage in your area. In my every day use I have no problems with data coverage, but there are some areas around me that are spotty. I find I can live with that for the savings you get with T-Mobile though and am glad I made the change.

The TM network becomes spotty outside of metro areas or at least it is here in nor cal. It's also questionable indoors as well.

Like others have said, T-Mobile has it's good areas and a lot of bad areas, just depends on location and the device.

Since the Nexus 4 is designed to work with T-Mobiles frequencies, it will work great in most any big city. Devices like an iPhone 4S will be ok but will have edge speeds more than the Nexus 4 will.

At my house, I get excellent T-mobile coverage. On my Nexus 4, speeds average between 15=26Mbps. On my Nexus 7, I get anywhere from 4- 12Mbps. On my iPad Mini, I get LTE anywhere in my house, something I can never get on AT&T. If I leave my area with the T-mobile sim in my iPad, I get edge speeds more than anything.

My Nexus 4 will occasionally get edge speeds as well. I see the e display sometimes but on the Nexus 4 that doesn't happen as often as the other devices I have.

I use the $30 100 minute 5GB plan on my Nexus 4.
