Thinking of switching to the pixel 2 (long)

I'll be coming from the note 8. I miss the one handed use lifestyle and wanted a change but had a few questions. I recently purchased a gear sport and the icon x 2018 earbuds and was wondering if anyone knows if they would work with the phone. It's been some time since I've owned the previous pixel XL so I've kind of forgotten how everything works outside of it's brand. If not compatible what would you recommend? I'm also wondering how the storage works here as far as pictures go (thinking of getting the 64gb version). If I transfer everything over does the pixel automatically back up those photos to make space or would I have to do that? I have a 128gb SD card at this point in time. How is the battery life for you all? Overall usuage and standby. Lastly the sound quality...I've played with one in the store but wasn't really able to make out everything so I'm not sure if it was the environment or the phone itself. Thanks everyone.

I have both the Pixel 2 XL and Note 8. My Gear Frontier works great with the Pixel with no issues. Even with Samsung Pay. I'm not familiar with the Icon X but I would think those would work without any issues as well.

As far as your photos go you can just back them up to Google Photos from your Note 8 so that way you don't have to waste time transferring them to the Pixel. Just keep in mind that either device will not back up the full resolution for free. The Pixel will only backup full high res photos and videos of taken by the Pixel.

Battery life is slightly better on the Pixel 2 XL but by the way I use my devices I have yet to use one that will last me a whole day so I'm charging my device whenever I'm in the car, at my desk or at home.

One other thing. Even when Google Photos auto backs up you'll still need to clear out your photos and videos to free up space on your device. However, the Google Photos app has the option to delete photos or videos from your device that have already been backed up top the cloud.

What size do you all opt for? Do you think it would be better to get the 128gb or would the 64gb be enough when transferring my data?

I haven't had the Note8, but as for the transfer of photos, that's handled in the setup process. You use the charging cable included with the phone (and IIRC it gives you the option to specify what you want transferred like photos, music, videos, texts, etc). I think it took around 5-10 minutes to transfer my stuff over from my old phone.

On the subject of storage, I always say if you can afford it, always go with the higher storage option. Especially if you see yourself holding onto the phone for longer than a year or if you record a lot of 4K video as those files eat up a lot of space. If you plan to own it for more than a year, you never know what you might need a year or two from now, unless you plan on dumping what's stored on your phone somewhat regularly. But in the end, only you know what you really need. Good luck!

Definitely get the larger storage if you can. Look at your storage on your Note 8 and see how much you are using internally and on your SD card. That will at least give you an idea of how much storage you need.
