First, I love the Evo 3D. The screen is fantastic, the device feels great in the hand, and it is the fastest phone that I've ever used. I really would have loved to keep it.
Despite the above, I have returned 3 Evo 3Ds and will not be picking up another. It has been like a bad relationship with girl who's fantastic in bed but has herpes and the outbreaks happen too often for comfort.
OK... that's a bit extreme but the quality control for this first batch is atrocious. The first phone had a large piece of... something... under the screen from the day I got it. It was almost like a piece of glitter that was always visible. The second had a misaligned screen. I was almost as if the LCD was rotated clockwise .5 degrees; google "evo3D misaligned screen" for multiple forum threads on the topic. I could overlook this but dust started building up in the lower right corner within one week - I don't even want to know how bad it would have been in a year. The third phone didn't even make it out of the Sprint store. When the sprint employee fired it up for the first time, I asked if I could check it out before he activated it. Lo and behold, the screen was again tilted and there was a 2-3mm long fiber stuck below the screen. I just handed the phone back and told him that I would wait for the photon or galaxy sII.
Anyway, just a bit of a rant here. I went through a couple of palm pre's due to dead pixels so maybe I'm just too picky, but when I'm paying this kind of money for a new device I am not going to settle for a defective or blemished product.
