If u use a flip case, get the trial version of Flip Case Control (only for s3 and note1, theres prob's with note2)
Close your case, screen goes off... open case, screen comes on. Allows deep sleep (ive just tested)

Uses 1% battery in standby (theres a timer to switch it off at certain times like night time time)
Great dev', more features to come. Try it.
p.s, ignore what it says in description about dark colours not working, my jet black samsung case works fine (as does lying it face down on a table or whatever

Honestly youll love it.
Do the 7day trial, check battery use, use Cpu Spy to make sure it allows deep sleep if u dont believe me.
The dev gives half his profits to charity (respect)
Try it n tell me its crap lol.
He's gona add a vibrate option just for piece of mind so you know its worked when you close the case

Tried it and so far it's great. The flip I'm using is black felt and seems to work fine. I change cases a lot so this should prove interesting to see which ones work with the app.

Mines black felt too.
With the simple rubber case i use at home, i just sit it face down.
Think theres free apps that do that but they hammer your batt'
