This is the first LG device I've had since the LG enV2 about 8 years ago or so. It was the HTC10 I went to the T-Mobile store to pick up today but all they had was a display model. Then the game was changed back to V10 vs G5. I've had a long experience with large devices in the Note 3, iPhone 6Plus and Note 4. I finally needed to downsize because having something so huge in my pocket was getting annoying. It also didn't help that my Note 4's warranty was running out and I replaced it four times this last year due to manufacture defects. So anyway, LG G5 is in my hands. Hopefully it lasts a year until my next upgrade. I don't know anything about LG specific features or cult tricks and things to look out for. So any advice on what to do with my brand new G5 would be appreciated. Thanks!

Take pics! It has great wide angle lens.

What to do with it! Are you serious? This is the most underrated phone of 2016! (IMHO)

Do everything! Play games (I don't). Set it up as a universal remote. Take lots of beautiful photos. Play with it. Do whatever it is you normally do with your phones.

But you'll be doing it snappy and buttery smooth.

Might I suggest looking around this forum at all the different threads and read up. This is one of the best support forums around. Again... My opinion.

Lots of helpful people. Lots of stuff to read. There's some negative stuff but still lots of positive stuff as well.

You chose wisely if you ask me. Very wisely. I hope your build quality is as good as mine. The person that commented above me here, Crabby Abie, wasn't so lucky with her build quality but she's got a lot of good things to say never the less.

I certainly am having a great time with mine. I can't put the thing down! It really performs excellently and has an awesome screen. Easy to hold.

Slap a dbrand skin on it to protect against scuffs and scratches and just have fun.

Any questions you may have are most likely already answered here somewhere.

Haha I'm not new to these forums. Most of my 2000 + posts come from crack berry but I know all about this place. Android Central is what crack berry used to be... friendly. I've been reading up, and I'm taking on am LG adventure. I like the G5 a bit more than I thought. There are some things that irk me as far as navigating the settings menus but I guess its just a different interface that takes getting used to.

I'll take on the skin suggestion. I haven't bought a case yet so maybe the skin is my best best to keep the devices phone profile small.

So far from what I can tell, the build quality is excellent. The battery module sits flush. Scared me at first honestly.

Thanks for your advice. I'll keep updating my first LG experience just for fun. For now on I'll be keeping my phone es for a year. So let's see how long this one actually lasts lol.

Thanks!

Here's a simple trick... Tap the home button quickly three times and it goes monochrome which saves power. You can actually change what the "three taps" do in the settings but going monochrome is the default setting.

Hi greedog, if you use IR remote in somewhere else TV like public tv, will it work when you set it up? Does it secretly set up? Can you use it as a prank? I wanna prank my parents house.

With a paid app you can do it because you can download the settings for the specific TV but using what comes with the phone I don't think so. You gotta train the phone. It's pretty easy. You could probably go into the bathroom with the TV's remote and get it trained lickety-split.

You dog! Sounds like you've got a bit of a fun streak in you.

Keep me posted on your sneaky endeavor.
