Hey everyone, I'm torn between getting the gear s2 (I have a s7 edge) and this. Both are similar in price and specs. I like android wear more but samsung's rotating bezel is nice.

Some of my concerns:
Screen quality - I have seen an S2 in person and the screen is extremely vibrant and clear. I know it has a higher res and ppi than the moto. How is the quality on this thing? Will I notice the difference?

Watch Faces - The watch faces on the moto site are all blah. Is there a good resource for new faces?

Water/Dust resistance - The ip rating is a point lower. How does this thing handle sweat, hand washing, direct splashes of water? I will wear it to work(trades) will it handle day to day work?

Thanks for any answers.

Since you have a Samsung phone, the Gear 2 would be the most beneficial for you since you will have a separate phone number assigned to it and can make and receive calls independent of your phone...even forward calls to the watch for those times when you want to leave your phone at home. I miss that capability since I switch to an LG V10, because my Gear S loses many of it's capabilities that only work with Samsung watches. As long as you hang with Samsung, you're good to go. I have a Moto 360 (2015), but I'm waiting to see what the Omate watch has to offer. It's supposed to work with Android Wear and offer the same capabilities as the Gear watches. So, I would recommend the Gear 2, as long as you plan on sticking with Samsung. If you decide to go with the Moto, there are a huge number of watch faces available through the Android Wear app, and more available almost daily. I don't know about the battery life on the Gear 2, but on the 360 it's very good.

Awesome thanks for the reply. I think I will go with the Gear. It ends up being cheaper based on the design I would pick for the moto.

I currently have both...the S2 and a 46mm Moto 360 and i rock them with my S7. My opinion is just cause u have a Samsung phone, doesn't mean you should stick with the S2. I was going back and forth between the two. But in the end it came down to a few things for me. First the Moto 360...it will be supported for quite some time, it has a lot more apps available for it than the S2, it's easier to use on more devices and the ability to change to high variety of bands. However the main reason that got me leaning towards the Moto is "OK Google" Androidwear voice features is a lot better than S-Voice anytime of the day.

Some of the positives about the S2 in my opinion is first and foremost, the screen. It's more vibrant and crisp than the 360, notification vibrations is stronger and felt more on the S2, widgets, NFC for Samsung Pay on the watch (whenever that update comes)

I have a Note 5 and had a Gear, Gear 2, and a Gear S. I like the size and look of the Moto. It just looks and feels like a real watch. Once you change the band.. it just doesn't have that odd feel like the other smart watches had. I gladly sacrificed the extra features for the look of the watch. And you can download apps to change the vibration of the Moto to make it more noticeable.

...one last note.. there are a ton more watch faces for Moto than Gear. You download apps like Intellicon and you will find 100s of watch faces.

If I were to write a reply, it would be yours verbatim. I bought both and wore them together for 14 day keep or return period. Moto 360 2nd gen won primarily for 2 reasons: 1) Google based & 2) Appearance. I do agree Gear S2 Verizon connected is great because u can leave phone at home but is that really necessary? The rotating bezel is a much smoother way to navigate from A to B. Liked how messenger notifications pop up and are easier to react to. And finally ... Screen resolution is EYE POPPING great. I prefer the black background of Gear vs rather washed out white Moto. Wish a dark theme was possible on Android Wear. But ... With ability to easily swap ANY 16 mm bands and a more sophisticated look, Moto won (girl thing maybe!). I told Best Buy guy I wish I could smoosh the 2 watches into ONE!
