I just got the evo about 2 weeks ago, upgraded from a palm pre. I must say I love this phone and basically everything about it aside from one thing, the video recording quality. So the whole point of this is to ask people if they think that the video recording is very lacking in quality. The main thing about it for me though is the sound quality, the video recording doesn't bother me nearly as much as the sound. The sound quality on the videos is horrendous. I find it sad that my pre took much better videos (in my opinion, although you can't argue the sound quality). To me it seems this can be fixed with software updates; again because my pre took much better video, and because I know iphone 4 can take better videos. If anyone wants me to make a comparison video I will. And with that my rant is complete, thanks for listening and would love to hear some opinions on the matter.

I agree dude

Yeah this has been discussed quite a bit here. I think its the one thing that kept this phone from being absolutely perfect, well to me anyway :) . And yes the pre does a better job at capturing video and audio.

If your having skips or artifacts during video playback of those recorded videos. Go into the settings for the video camera and change flicker adjustment to 60hz instead of auto. That should fix those problems. Now for sound? I'm with ya, but it's not to bad.

Nah, no skips or artifacts. Its just that the overall quality is low. The sound is definitely a lot better than say your average camera phone but still much lower than what I would expect from a phone with such powerful hardware

It all just comes down to the format it's recorded in I believe, and maybe even having a low quality mic. My PQ has always been pretty darn good, but sound has been muffled.

Get an Epic if that's important to you. The video recording and camera quality are far, FAR better than the Evo. In my opinion, it even beats iPhone 4. Many would agree with me as well.

I made the swith only because of the better processor and because it actually has a graphics card. Then I found out it also has a much, MUCH better camera. There is no comparison. Evo is a great phone but if video recording is important to you, just get an epic.

I was actually thinking about that since I have the option to switch phones. I was also thinking about that because of the keyboard on the epic, but not for texting or even text input but because a lot of game system emulators seem to be more friendly to android devices with keyboards.

Never take this man's info.. Yes the Epic camera and video are better, but not by far. That's one heck of an exageration if I have heard one. He is a Epic fanboy..

To tell it to you bluntly, and I know this comment will not really be appreciated in this evo forum, just go ahead and switch.

In almost every single way, the epic is many times better than the evo. I honestly think there is no comparison between the two. Epic is simply a much, much better device. I was being nice when I said all I noticed was the better camera.

There are my 2 cents. Evo is good. But that's about it....good.

Well of course I'm not basing my decision on what he said by any means. I've done a lot of research on the epic. Because of all this about the camera and the keyboard it may be a better phone for me. But I don't know I might like the evo more than I think, not to imply that o dislike the phone because I don't at all (aside from the video recording of course :p )

I think I'm just gunna have to try one out and decide for myself

Every single way? Hmm again wrong

Sense>>>>Touchwiz

Front facing cam on the Evo is 1.3mp while the Epic is VGA. Sucks for video calling btw. GPS on the Evo actually is accurate 100% of the time. Again the Evo has Froyo which gives it a huge bump over the Epic. Who knows when Samsung will release it, according to them it was supposed to be out the end of September if I remember correctly. The capacitive buttons on the Epic are just plain garbage. The light turns off, and you can't even see them, not to mention half the time they don't work on the first tap. Samsung's build quality is also another huge disappointment.. Every Galaxy S device may look nice, but it's a cheap, light piece of plastic with no solidity to it. I will give the camera nod to the Epic yes, but it's all because of the better software not the lens. If HTC used better software, and compression techniques, we wouldn't be arguing who has the better camera. Samsung makes cameras... HTC does not. GPU in the Epic is faster yes, but now with our FPS unlocked everything plays smooth and you would never see much of a difference between the two unless your running GPU benchmarks. The CPU processing power is about the same, no differences.

If the Evo is just "good"... Why does 9 out of 10 review sites say the Evo is still better? Why is the Evo still selling out, and the Epic stays on shelves? Does any of that ever stump you? Not to mention the rooting community for HTC is far beyond Samsung.

Estebancam, we have seperate forums for a reason. If you don't own a Evo or got anything nice to say. Go back to your part of the forums. Thanks!
