Those idiots killed app ops!

Thx,but i have read it already. A good article, but a VERY toxic forum below it. I am not trying to start a riot on this thread. I just want people to voice their opinion on this !atter. If i sound whiny i am sorry, it's just i thought this feature was the best!

It's fine :) I think the feature is great too. But I can see why some developers are opposed to it.

Niw that my rage has subsided sligtly, i can kinda see why some devolper might be ticked to learned rhat the functions that his app needs to work are disabled because the end user thought them as unessacary. Bur, then maybe they should explain more..

I forget where i saw it, but one of the google devs hinted it might be ome a third party tool evwntually. But until then, can someone find me a solution that works without rooting?

I'm disappointed they are blocking the ability for us to block permissions. There are some apps I downloaded only because I had the ability to block unneeded permissions. I am going to have to relook at app permission of apps I already downloaded now, kinda sucks.

Don't turn off ads and other revenue features in free apps. We need to pay developers for their work.

This have nothing to do with revenue, it won't prevent them from running ads, and it doesn't give users ability to disable ads, only root can do that. Most free apps run ads without privacy invasion permissions. These permissions can be important to protect privacy, ads don't need your entire contacts list with all their phone numbers, emails, address and your exact GPS location. One major reason why it was removed is it was breaking apps. Developers built apps with certain features, when you go in and start disabling some it'll cause app to fail and then the developer gets a nasty Graham from you saying his app is broken or fc. If you don't like a apps permission then don't DL it. Easy as pie.

That's why you can turn the permissions back on.

Main reason I now have 14 apps waiting update, I just won't update because I find some of the NEW permissions intrusive, I'll continue using the original version until it stops working.

Also many other apps that I never DL because of permissions.

You have more to fear then a few apps permission. You signed your life away when you married Google. Even a tin foil hat will not hide you from google. In 5 years or so of Android I haven't feared one app or its permissions.

You must be VERY trusting of your apps. Too trusting...

I've seen nothing in my apps permission that hasn't scared me. Even the porn apps from the porn app store haven't bothered me. If the permission scare you so bad email the developer and ask him to redo his app. But most likely apps need certain areas to function or have functionality. Your not going to please every one no matter how you change stuff

I just am mad that they did it without us knowing. I mean, it wasn't that important of a feature but still, i kinda liked it!

to be honest Google never advertised it and was never a user facing feature...

the geeks just discovered it and started using it... so u cant blame google for not letting u know for disabling it...

there intention was to hide this right from the start
