How do I brick my Eris without physically damaging it or water damaging it?

How do I do a factory reset to my Eris to make it go back to 1.x? I'm not sure what version I had before I upgraded with the leak.

As far as I can tell you cannot downgrade to 1.x. Once at 2.1 you will forever be at 2.1

NOOOOO. Lol, that sucks tho for real.. I guess I'll have to get them to send me a new Eris... I'll wait a bit thought just to see if I can get the update.

I downgraded to 1.5 after doing the 2.1 Root update with no difficulty. Instructions are here:
