Those of you with Skips+dots?

Do you even use them? I didn't order before they got taken away and not sure if I should order them at all. Is that all they do just unlock without your code, even the dots (like their not customizable to do certain things (turn off wifi, ect)).

I have the skip, and to be honest, I haven't used it a single time. Currently, I've been using my Nexus 5 instead of my Moto X. When I do use the X though, I have my pebble watch as a trusted bluetooth device. No real need for the skip.

I'm not sure, but I think all they do is unlock the device. I use NFC tags with my GNex a decent amount. One in the car to crank up brightness, turn wifi off, gps on, open maps, volume/ringer up; stuff like that.

When I ordered my X, I ordered the Skip for the heck of it. It's a cheap novelty, and if you use a long password lock like everyone should, the skip could be pretty useful. It just depends on how you use your device and how willing you are to change how you're used to using your device.

I have never used a pin on my phones. Too annoying and I didn't care who looked at my phone. With the skip and the dots I use one now. They actually come in handy. I don't need them in the car because of the trusted bluetooth but I use them at home and out and about

I love it. I have a hard to figure swype unlock path, but use my pebble as a trusted device. On my other favorite watch (which I wear the most), I put the skip around the band side closest to me so that when I unlock it, I just tap my watch. I put one of the skip dots next to my keyboard at work so I can just tap it there too. It's a great system - when at home, my pebble is there so no password and if my pebble isn't nearby I have my skip on my watch.

My company's Exchange policy seems to disable all unlock options other than PIN and password. So, I can't select the NFC Unlock option. So, the Skip/Dots accessory is useless to me. :-(

I use Skip dots when I don't wear my Pebble. Have a dot in the car plus one on my work folder.

I like the Skip - it's been handy. Would I have paid to buy one; likely not.

Where I run into an issue is my work-flow; I use Tasker/Secure Settings to disable the PIN on my phone when at home. Once I leave home I have Tasker restore the PIN; this worked great on my Droid Bionic. Since moving to the Moto X this work-flow gets broken because Tasker/Secure Settings doesn't support (that I can find) enabling "NFC Unlock". So I end up having to visit Settings>Security once I'm away from home to enable "NFC Unlock" and in turn pair the Skip.

If I tap my phone on a NFC dot/tag/skip to unlock my phone when will the phone relock? Will my phone automatically require the lock pattern the next time I try to use my phone if I do not touch it to a NFC dot/tag/skip?

When you configure the NFC Unlock you need to specify a backup method should the Slip/dot not be available. The options include Pattern/PIN/Password. So, once the phone is locked again you have either method to unlock (NFC or fallback).

The phone will lock based on your configuration; immediately, specific timeout. Power button can be configured to lock immediately or not.

It should be completely negligible. If it makes a difference at all, and I guess technically it does, you're probably talking about a minute or two over a 24 hour period...if even that.

It depends. If you configure the NFC tag to "toggle" BT, then it will do what you said. If it is set to just turn on BT, it will only turn on BT (and vice versa).

when you say "toggle BT" do you mean that if I tap it a second time it will turn off BT? Inn other words each time I touch the NFC it will turn it off/on vs having a second tag nearby to turn BT on? (hopefully that makes sense)

Yes. I have one on my key chain. When I tap it bluetooth, full ringer volume/silent and gps toggle on and off.

use the skip everyday at the office, wear it on my sleeves and i unlock the phone directly when i pull from my pocket - took me some time to do that properly.
quite convenient and makes my co workers a little bit jelly.
