Has this fixed the connection/signal issues? I tried a nexus about a month ago, and it was not useable dye to the data connection/signal issues. I went back to my thunderbolt, but really want a nexus. My only condition is that the phone actually has to work..I'm really hoping this fixes the phone. Thanks for the answers

your issue was more likely than not hardware related but JB has new radios which do improve the switching between 3g and 4g. I say just update and see for yourself.

How you returned to the thunderbolt from a nexus is baffling

I didn't want to go back to my thunderbolt, but the nexus was completely unuseable. I couldn't make a call or do anything online, it would not hold any signal. I bought it new on craigslist, the seller was a good guy and agreed to take it back and refund my money. I wasn't to try again, but I'm a little nervous.

Odds are... you will get an issue free device... (though used devices will have the issue more because more people get rid of faulty devices)

I don't wasn't another contract with VZW right now, I still have unlimited data. I also do not want to pay full retail at VZW, I wish the cdma version was available from google direct. I don't know what to do, my first assumption about the phones on craigslist is they are getting rid of them for the same reason.

My phone was having issues switching between 3G/4G and then would completely lose all signal if I kept it on 4G for more than a hour or so. Since I got the JB update this morning switching between the bands takes almost no time at all, and I have had the 4G on for most of the day with no issues.

Don't automatically assume that all of the devices have connection issues. I got one on release day and I didn't have any problems with it. After dropping it and breaking the screen, I got another in February. The replacement has been issue-free, as well.

I may be wrong but I don't think anyone is assuming that all have connection issues. It is a well known and widespread problem that many have. I, like the OP, tried to switch to the GNex from the Bolt only to have to return due to horrible signal issues. There are many who have rock solid GNex devices. It reminds me of the whole rebooting Thunderbolt saga. There were people whose phones would reboot several times a day and others who were lucky, like me, who never had a reboot problem.

Noticed an improvement with mine. It locks onto 4g in places it never used to and holds the lock. Call quality seems a little better also

I used to lose complete signal a minimum of 10 times a day. Since I have updated I have only lost signal 2-3 times a day. I am experiencing much improvement with JB

just upgraded to jb. im not impressed yet, my wifi is wishy washy now to where itll go in and out of blue to gray (it never did this before, it was stable at full bars while blue) i had full bars of 4g service before jb now im getting 2. lock screen still sucks with the addition of google now. it would be absolutely amazing if we could edit it to add the app of our liking like....omg messages? the most commonly used app amongst all cellphone users?

i notice a SLIGHT improvement in speed. i have yet to notice this "project butter" when i slide my screen to the next screen, it doesnt "flow" it snaps to the next screen opposed to flowing to it if this makes sense to anyone, unless this was the exact intention which in my opinion...yawn. i def do notice a better response when flipping phone to widescreen.

i read about customizing widgets? where? its all the same, nothings changed. i read that u can uninstall an app right then and there? where? how? its the same exact as before; i have to go to the all apps screen to uninstall just like before. i read its a lot easier when placing/moving apps around the screen? where? its still the same exact thing.

i understand google now takes some time before it adapts, its nice and cool so far though its only showing me weather and bus routes for now.

the grayed out google search bar stands out more, i like it.

honestly i felt like it was over hyped as i expressed my skepticism throughout the forums, sorry guys. i am 25% impressed by the minor changes after all the hype of waiting almost a year about omg jelly bean and project butter.

for whatever reason, i feel like my phone is outdated though i know its features are the same or better (in whatever sense i have yet to find) than ijunk

am i missing something? or was i too optimistic?

Jelly Bean's native email client has a bug with ActiveSync push mail connection, so if you use ICS with an Exchange or Zimbra or other EAS server at work, I'd hold off on the update. ;)

Seems like my radios work better. When listening to Slacker it use to buffer now it doesn't. Knock on wood. Lol

My radios are certainly better. Had 4g on for two days and haven't noticed one signal drop.

Let's just say before update, airplane mode was my best friend.

As far as app screen long press widgets and also notice what happens when placing an icon over another?

As far as project butter... you should notice it on scrolling as well as app transitions

when placing icons over another, i did notice that they move around each other now which is cool and very convenient now, but as far as long pressing widgets....some give me the option to asjust its size but they dont stick, i know that depends on the widget and if it can be adjusted to certain sizes. doesnt seem like anything new with that as this was capable on ics....

OMG, i discovered 2 new things that ive been hoping would be fixed and they sure as heck did (theyre really small upgrades which im sure most of u wont care for, but its always the little things that count)

1. BEFORE: when you typed in a new word, it would be underlined red, u clicked it and it "saved" but it didnt save to the phones dictionary, u had to click the word again for it to pop up the dictionary so u can save it then
AFTER: IT FINALLY SAVES IT THE FIRST TIME U CLICK!!!! it takes u straight to the dictionary, amazing

2. BEFORE: when ever i have music playing (i use google play) the icon in the task bar only had the option to play/pause and skip to the next track
AFTER: theres now the option to go back to the previous track!!!

so after using the phone for a longer peiod of time, i def do notice speed improvements so it is faster than before whichis always a plus.

Yeah I forgot about the keyboard update too (I was on jelly but had to revert to deal with Verizon and decided to wait out the update) the little changes like making Android beam WAY more useful and changing how to delete photos

My favorite thing about butter is the quick seeming opening of apps it really does save time and its even better on custom roms
