My friend in Chicago just got her S21 Ultra the other day it's T-Mobile. I don't use Duo enough but she uses it all the time and said there's a feature and we tried it with each other it didn't work. Knock knock feature where you can see who's calling you before you actually answer the call.

Just curious if anybody else knows why it's not working is it an Android 11 or UI glitch? I called her she called me didn't work it told me my video was visible and when she called me I just saw a little notification bar at the top saying she was calling me. Thanks!

Open Duo app - settings - call settings and make sure knock knock option is turned on

Yes we know that both of ours were turned on it's just not working. She just got her phone and she tried it with her daughter and she thought maybe it was a setting and they compared settings and then she called me and I called her it didn't work for me neither. So it might be an Android 11 thing I don't know.

Works fine for me with S21 Ultra, Pixel 5 which are all on Android 11. Can’t think why it’ll be an OS thing since it’s an app. Weird it doesn’t working for you.

I don't know my friend said it worked all the time on her s9 plus and now that she has the ultra it don't work. I don't use it enough to know. But we tried it together said it didn't work and knock knock was on.

I saw that link so I don't know someone in Reddit said something about whether your Duo it set to with your Gmail and if it is redo it with just you phone number start over fresh not sure though.

Must be a setting but my friend said hers our the same as her husbands. We didn't know this but when we were test calling each other all we saw was a bar up top across the phone about a video call coming in. It used to be the whole big screen with video popped up not this bar. I don't use it enough to know but if we touched the bar than it went to video screen and worked. But when she calls her husband it goes right to the big video screen he doesn't have to click on some bar at the top. So that is why I thought it might be a setting until she said she checked her settings against his unless she missed something I don't know.

Edit: Well maybe Duo had an update my friend said cause now she claims this bar at the top is happening to her daughter and husband and didn't before it used to bring up the full video right away no touching the bar to bring it up. Not sure if she can go under apps and uninstall latest update. But oh well maybe it was from an update.

So Duo is basically Samsung's version of FaceTime? And can you only do it with other people who have Samsung phones?

Yeah anybody can use Duo! I put it on my dad's iPhone so we could video call each other even though he doesn't really know how to use it LOL! but it used to be when you first called somebody a big video would pop up and you could see what they were doing before you chose to answer. now it seems like a notification bar goes across the top of your screen and you have to click that to see the big video to decide if you want to answer or decline. Like I said I don't use it enough my friend was just asking me cuz that's all she uses with her family.

I'm experiencing the same issue. With my Note 10+ I was getting the full video knock knock when getting a call. Now it's just a notification bar at the top of the screen. I assumed it had to do with One UI 3.1 and the need for Duo to be updated.

Thanks for your reply! I don't use Duo as much as my friend but she was just curious about it. But I don't think her daughter has UI 3.1 I'm not sure I just know my friend and her husband just got the ultra 21 like me and her husband's was doing the big video at first and then all the sudden it switched to the bar. Her daughter's on some type of Android phone I don't know what though like UI version or anything.

Guess that means it's not One UI 3.1 related. I'm out of ideas. Maybe an update to Duo will fix it.
