Because if I use the Bluetooth tether from my Xoom to my DX, it does not cost me extra per month. The WiFi hotspot (although free for a short time) will be an added extra cost per month.
I'd like to know if this is possible too. Not really for the Xoom but for any Bluetooth enabled device. I couldn't find a built-in bluetooth tethering option like the Droid 2 and X have in my Bluetooth settings. I paired the phone to my laptop and didn't get any options to connect as an access point or use DUN.
I mainly want this to save on battery life versus using the WiFi hotspot feature. With the Thunderbolt supposedly being updated to support Bluetooth 3.0 +HS that supports up to 24 Mbps transfers it should be a good battery saving alternative.
I would prefer Bluetooth PAN over DUN since with PAN I can connect other computers and access their network shares.
