Thoughts after using Bionic plus pictures

Do they just not want to sell those things? You'd think they'd make them reasonably priced and not charge extra as a "feature" then once everyone became dependent on them they would slowly up the price. Don't they pay any attention to cable companies?

Yeah, I just don't get it. Getting a little frustrated just thinking about it. I am buying it no matter what because I already decided to do so and I have the money for it. I just wish they could see it for what it is. They better tack on a 'feature' cost if you buy that webtop adapter too cuz you can bet your ass if they charge me to use the lapdock i'm going to buy the webtop adapter and use it as my primary browser on THEIR network every effing day. Turn off my WiFi and abuse the hell outa it :)

I hope we can all spend another 8 pages talking about S before real questions are answered. Just shut up and listen for an opinion/review.

I'm hoping for 12 more pages talking about S. What's the fun in shutting up and waiting?

In literal terms, bootloader is code that is executed before any Operating System starts to run. The concept of bootloaders is universal to virtually all Operating systems that inculcates operating systems on your PC, laptop, smartphones, and other such devices. Bootloaders basically package the instructions to boot operating system kernel and most of them also have their own debugging or modification environment. As the bootloader kicks off before any piece of software on your device, it makes it extremely processor specific and every motherboard has it’s own bootloader. This is one reason that all Android phones have different Custom ROMS developed due to high variance of processing hardware present on the device. The iDevices running iOS somewhat share the same hardware specs and hence you don’t see much variance in their bootloaders.
Android Phone Bootloaders ?

Every Android phone has a bootloader that instructs the operating system kernel to boot normally. But you need to understand one thing here that as Android OS is an open source OS and is available on a variety of different hardware, every manufacturer has their own version of bootloader specific for the hardware present in it’s environment. We also saw couple of weeks back that Motorola packaged an “eFuse” command in their Android phones, which could brick (permanently turn off) your device in case you tried to flash a Custom ROM.

Or just be really mean and not buy the tethering plan, and root it, and get the tethering app. And just ABUSE THE CRAP out of their network lol. They'll catch you eventually, but it'll be hilarious!

good synapse.

Well THAT was not something I wanted to see as a reply from my VZW Sales rep....

"I don't have specific detail yet, but I expect that a feature (ie; additional charges) will be required to use the Lapdock."

Man I hope he is wrong.

That is very disappointing. :(

Well, it sounds like he really doesn't know, so, I am going to keep hoping. I am not interested in buying the lapdock so I can pay another $30 a month to verizon - I'll just wait and see.

I like the hdmi dock that you can connect usb stuff to, but the other webtop connector I think we will be able to bypass since we have root.

What's an operating system kernel?

You can use webtop through an HDMI cable on an Atrix if you root it. The adapter is a gimmick...but an extra $30 to Verizon to use an accessory? Wtf. I'd just tether the crap out of everything if I had to pay for that plan to just to piss them off and use a ton of data.

does anyone help the new android enthusiast anymore? boring old farts
