Threads no longer show bold for unread threads

For the past week or so, none of the forums I monitor have been showing thread titles in BOLD when they contain unread postings. Also, under the "TOOLS" button, there used to be an option to "show forum as read", which would remove the bold titles. That option is no longer present/available.

This makes these forums much less useful and much more tedious to visit. I have ot closely scrutinize the "last post" date and time on the right side of the table to try to guess if there is a new/unread post.

This is on my desktop, using Chrome.

OK, very strange, but good (I guess).

I walked away from the computer for about 15 minutes and when I returned, all the Forums and threads were back to normal and the "TOOLS" button returned to how it previously worked.

No idea what happened, but OK now.
