throttling question

Ok, this morning I received an automated text this morning saying I was approaching 5GB for the month, and that exceeding it on this and future billing cycles will result in reduced data speeds, etc. I checked and I had reached about 4.9 GB, so I figured it'd happen today. Now it only says 4G in the notification bar, and I checked my data and now I'm a little over 5GB. Where I live I pretty much always have LTE (DFW area), so clearly something is happening.

However, I ran a couple of data speed tests, both around 6-7 mbps. It's noticeably slower, but nothing I can't handle. I've read that throttling typically makes your speeds go below 1 mbps. Am I truly being throttled, or can AT&T possibly be taking it a little easy since it's my first time hitting 5GB? haha It just seems a little odd.

It may be that it only say 4G since they may have dropped you to a HSPA/HSPA+ connection instead of 4G LTE.

I wish the fcc would make throttling illegal

Actually, it now appears that me being moved down to HSPA/HSPA+ was a huge coincidence, because its back at LTE now. I'm still not getting throttled. I guess the one time LTE was out around where I live was after I received that text. Ha!! Still seems odd to me that they sent me that text, I still go over 5GB, and I'm still not experiencing any throttling. Oh well.

Dude you must be on your phone 24/7! I use my phone A LOT and haven't even sniffed 4GB

Well I work in a cubicle all day, so I tend to stream a lot from spotify and other music sources. I also tend to get kinda bored and find myself playing with it a little too much, haha.

Plus, the last day of my billing cycle is tomorrow, So it's not like I'm going way over.
