Throttling

I live in a 3g area but today I'm in a 4g area. After running some Speed tests I'm averaging 3-4mbs down load and 6-7 mbs upload.

I'm guessing I might be one of the lucky ones that Verizon is throttling since I average around 10-20 gigabits downloaded every month.

Is there any other reason my download is slower than my upload speed.

It could just be the area or a bunch of different variables . I run 10-15gb a month and see no ill effect

It may not be throttling. I'm in an initial launch LTE area that probably has a fair number of LTE users. During the day I'll see about 3-5 mbps download speeds, but the speeds are usually over 10 mbps late at night when fewer users are active.

Verizon has said regardless of whether you are in 3G or 4G Area , if you have a 4G phone you will not have your speeds slowed at all. They don’t call it "throttling" but whatever it's called doesn't apply to 4G phones at all.

How do you use so much bandwidth with 3g? Good gracious!

20 gigs will start being a drop in the bucket lately, some feels that 4g wont change the amount of data use compared to 3g but this isn't the case, you can watch HD video on 4g where 3g speeds normally don't allow the high quality settings because it can almost access double the bandwidth..

Welcome to the technology era...

I can sit in my living room and run a speed test and get a result....5 mins. from the same lving room run the same test and get something close but NEVER the same.....usually slower......I can test at different times also and get higher results one day and then the next day lower.

I think alot of it depends on how many people are using 4G.

A prime example is that I was at my parents over the Thanksgiving holiday and went to a Verizon store to get my dad a Dumbphone. I ask the cute sales girl when they got 4G out in my parents area....she said October 20th....I checked my speeds....I was getting 16 and 12......I live in Silicon Valley....4G mecca....and I usually get 10 and 8. The difference between my parents area and my home area......about a million 4G users versus maybe 50,000 in my parents area.

Just my thought!
