This is nothing new, but i dont see it on the forums much or often and to be honest after searching it wasnt on XDA at all. So i figured i would post it here.

Ever come back drunk from a bar with your cell phone at 15% after having it at 100% just before you left to go to the bar and after knocking out on ur bed your phone dies so you dont wake up for work, you miss important phone calls and well your phone died 30 minutes after you got home. Used to happen to me alot....the phone dying part. I swear.

So this is nothing new like i said but here is what ive found and im sure others have too. For the longest time i would keep 4G turned off untill i was either teathering or doing some hardcore downloading but now i keep it on.

So, like most of you i have a rooted ROM and the pull down menu allows for widgets. Simply add "Mobile Data" to your widget pull down and turn mobile data off. Keep your WiFi on 24/7 it wont hurt but you can turn that off to get another, meh, 5-7% out of the battery. (i only keep it on cuase the rom was having problems reconnecting if i toggled it alot) So, i have mobile data on for ONLY 3 things.

1. Browse the interent or get email while away from a wifi connection
2. Receive picture messages (since verizon REQUIRES mobile data to download the pictures)
3. Receive those stupid mass text messages from the iphones...raise your hand if you find those absolutely annoying!

Other than that you receive text messages, phone calls, picture messages (without the picture till you turn MD on to download it or send it) play games (that dont require data to play) and so forth. Also, the phone runs cooler, slightly faster and it makes me smile.

With all this said. My phone lasts longer than most iphones now. Its amazingly awesome. If you dont like toggling this, then you cant save power. It is an extra step each time and something you MUST remember to turn back off. But it is soooooooo nice to go all day and still have 60-80% battery left on moderate use.

let me know what you think!

PS the mobile data switches off and on quite quickly.

Well stated.

In fact, I do the same and battery life does last longer when both network and wifi are turned off.

I think you two would like the juice defender app. I use it and it has options to automatically toggle data on and off, which I have mine set to be off and toggle on every 30 mins to sync everything. Just that alone gets me at least 50% more battery. It has more strict settings that you can set as well. With the paid version you can actually have it automatically enable/disable data on a per app basis.

I keep mobile data on,but only 3g and i usually last all day long with moderate use. I don't turn anything else on
I have auto brightness, no wifi, no bluetooth, and i only sync to google on the charger.
If i really need to save battery i turn 3g off and underclock my cpu to like 750 mhz
