I finally got around to calling VZW concerning the spotty data connections. In talking to the rep, I told him that I had read other users calling in and having them do battery/SIM pulls. He stated the reason for this is on 4G devices it reprograms itself while it powers on. Verizon's LTE is setup like this since you cant dial *228 from a 4G device.

Now as we all know sometimes the reps don't really know what they are talking about but it makes sense.
